Hello there all. Switch Noob here.

I have a modded Switch by default with custom themes and all that, but I'm getting a little infuriated with the emulation performance. Anything past the Game Boy seems to fucking suck. I've tried Ubuntu, but all it does is crash every half hour and it takes a bunch of reboots for it to even reload properly. I need help.

Are there some requirements for this that aren't being met, or are there some other options I can look into? I'm looking to do N64, Dreamcast, PS1, and some light PSP gaming here and there.

From what I've had, not a lot of N64 games (Bomberman 64, Banjo Kazooie, etc.) run smoothly or even at all. I also forgot to mention PS1.

Am I on an outdated RA? most N64 games run dreadfully without OC, and quite a few are pretty problematic even at full OC.

What? Most games are near perfect, it depends on your settings.. what ganes are you having issues with?

For me...Mariokart, Goldeneye are 2 titles that really lag for me. Updated cores, well month or so ago, and run O/C and still lag. Admit I never really tried tweaking settings in RA tho.

For me it's all mario partys, mario kart, paper mario (only in menus) tony hawk pro skater 1 and 2, and several NBA games. A lot of times it's just random crashing.

Mario kart should be fine even without overclock.. goldeneye has been terrible up until mupen got glide added now its near perfect

I only use ntsc roms lol

Seriously its triggering that people didn't know how good n64 emulation has gotten and that you're suffering with crashes or slowdown :(

Just make sure you're using the latest mupen core and are launching with full ram access.. for settings most of the time framebuffer emulation either makes or breaks it

Idk bout n64, but on retroarch psx is very far from being near perfect :p.
It still is missing dynarec & literally everything needs overclock, some harder to emulate even with overclock will still fail.
N64 gets by on a number of tweaks, and those hard to emulate games definately require OC.
Also if all you care about is emulation, Android 10 is pretty much the pinacle for 90%.
Ubuntu is better for 1 or 2, and Horizon has Citra for 3ds emu which outperforms the others.
