IM wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong with my 3ds xl. I though i lost it and recently found it in my basement. Its been damaged, the cover is all scratched up so maybe something inside went wrong. I don't mind opening it up but i was wondering if anyone had something similar happened to it.

i already tried removing the battery and waiting a couple of minutes but nothing.

There was a popping noise whenever the light went off. Whatever you do, stop pressing the (Power) button and keep the battery removed. You no longer want to further damage it.

There are several possibilities with what is wrong with it.

1. Replace the speaker flex cable assembly. Popping is usually an indication that cable is bad. Replace this first before moving on.
2. If the popping goes away in #1 but the 3DS XL still doesn't turn on, reseat the WiFi module. It may have been knocked out of place from signs of tumble from the scratches.

3. Your fuses that controls charging and powering the entirety of the motherboard have failed from electric leak over the years/months. There might an charger chip that needs to be looked at as well. I'm not 100% sure if the Old 3DS XL has one like the N3DSXL.
