Sent my CECH-2001A off for downgrade and have gotten it back today. Seller also installed Rogero 4.41 v1.00 and Multiman. I would have installed them myself but he offered and I buckled. I just ordered my 1TB WD internal HDD. Should be here soon.

So from what I've managed to find, it seems that Rogero 4.41 doesn't require downgrade in order to swap HDD. Can anyone confirm this? I'm having trouble accepting that all I have to do is disable internet access, pop in the new HDD, put in my flash with Rogero and Multiman, boot up and install it? I really thought it would be more of a nightmare than that..

I'm planning on following this tut (but I'll have to download 4.41, not 4.40)

Anyways, any help at this stage is greatly appreciated. I don't really want to do anything with it until I know for certain that I'm not going to inadvertently put my PS3 on newer OFW.

boot into recovery
flash rogero (probably should go for 4.46)

Get Rogero 4.41 1.00 pup or upgrade to a later CFW just be sure its the same one you are currently on. Always confirm the MD5 of the pup file. Rename it to PS3UPDAT and stick the .PUP in PS3/Update at the root of a fat32 formatted usb flash drive.
Remove Old hdd, install new hdd, plug usb stick to the right most usb slot and turn on your ps3. Make sure to remove ethernet cable and be sure no game disc is in the drive. It will ask to format and then reinstall the CFW, its pretty straightforward just follow the onscreen instructions

The MD5 for Rogero 4.41 1.00 is f8edbf7b45180f823f4298b388ecfb9b
Here is the pup http://www.mediafire.com/download/n3sqgelatj7auwg/PS3UPDAT_Rogero_CFW_4.41_v1.00.PUP
here is the MD5 checker http://www.mediafire.com/download/anc35d44rle54p1/md5.exe

Very thorough. Thank you very much! Now once my HDD arrives and I have some time to mess around with PS3, I can finally be in a position to help others instead of asking questions hehe

I can't find the dimensions on it but I'm going with one that Qtis recommended.

I'm not entirely sure but I want to say I read a post where someone was using the exact same one. But if it doesn't fit I guess I have a nice 1TB HDD for sale >.>

Edit: Yea most of its reviews are by PS3 users, I should be ok! =D
Edit2: And found this review for anyone interested in getting one for their PS3, it's 9.5mm tall so should fit snugly?
