Homebrew Need Help Hacking My 3ds

I am looking to homebrew my 3ds XL but I'm not sure how to go about it. I've found a few different ways but have not been successful. My 3ds is vers. 11.6.0-39U. It's an older version of the 3ds. I'm wanting to learn how to place ds and possibly (isn't required) 3ds games on my 3ds xl. Thank you for any information you have for me!

I was going to do this method but I don't have another 3ds or such system. Just the one. So I don't know how I can use that system.

3ds.hacks.guide will tell you that you need another CFW 3ds or a NTR compatible flashcart to install CFW on an 11.6 system which isn't true.

There's another method called 'seedminer', it costs $2US (to buy a game from eshop to exploit) and some time. Check out the gbatemp thread about it.
