since i assume you're talking about a laptop, do you need the power supply or the ac-adapter specifically? they're extremely different parts

well, the power supply is not the battery either, but I am glad we cleared that up. >.>
the internal power connections in a laptop aren't exactly a power supply like desktops have, as the ac-adapter regulates most of it. but what lies on the internal side of the AC adapter's connector varies from model to model. all laptops have an inverter for the LCD screen, from what i understand.
