Homebrew need 3ds xl hack help, got scammed

I bought a new 3ds xl the other day and got scammed.

it wont read physical games so I thought maybe to do one of those hacks that allows you to download games free, however I dont know a single thing about hacking and would need step by step help.
someone on a facebook group suggest I post this here.
system has the latest firmware, as someone had also suggest the system needed an update for the games to boot. but alas it didnt help. thanks so much

What is your 3DS version? If you're in <11.3, you're lucky boi.
Don't worry about if reads cartridges or nah.
Just follow 3DS.guide

The cart slot is broken?If you got experience fixing small electronics try looking on amazon or ebay for the replacement part.Hope you didn't lose too much money.

It's most likely some of the pins in the cartridge slot are bent out for place. Have a look and if they look bent try and straighten then out. I fixed a friend's like this, it works fine now.

check it's the right region too, you may have bought a system/game from another region, check in the settings for the region suffix
I.e 11.4.0-33 E/U/J

and make sure your game cart matches (or you can just try a nds game which are region free anyway)

how did you pull that off? a couple of pins in my ds light have been a little bent for ages, granted I can just play the games in my 2ds but it would still be nice to have it usable as a ds and not just a gba sp
