Hacking NDS lite and M3 (slot2)

hello to all,
i've a NDS lite and this card on my hands:

when inserted Gameboy start in 'GBA mode', i can run gba backup but no chance
to run NDS ones. Why ?

I remember that on DS FAT i need to remove battery and do some things (don't remember)
this operation is needed also for DS lite ?

You need to have a Passcard 2 or 3 in the DS slot to activate DS mode. Once in DS mode you can flash a custom firmware called Flashme to alleviate the need for a Passcard.
