Reason why you can't find that ONE post to rule them all on how to inject NDS games is because there isn't any. With Virtual Console injections for the WiiU, there are different ways to go about it, however the end results are the same, either have a working WUP/USB installer files to install directly to your WiiU where you have a nice icon on the WiiU Menu. Or if you prefer to load it through Loadiine, both of these two methods require two different steps.
Without going into the finer details on how to do this, if you just want to play these two games quickly, below are MY interpretation of the bare bone instructions on how to get both these games up and running on Loadiine.
Note: I'm going to repeat, this is bare bones, no fancy game icons or banners, etc.. Just enough to boot and play the game:
What you need: I can't help you with any of these files so your on your own on where to get them.
- A copy of the official DS VC game in Loadiine format (code, content & meta folders): New Super Mario Bros. (US) [0005000010195A00]
- A copy of both your Kingdom Hearts DS roms.
FYI: For others who are reading and know how to inject are wondering why I chose NSMB as a base VC for both these games? Reason is because both Kingdom Hearts games use EEPROM saves, and it's always best practice to always try and use a VC base that has the same SAVE method. But I hear you say...why you need to do this when you could just use the built in automatic RESTORE POINT when you exit the game that most official VC's have, and also have the ability to manually use the CREATE RESTORE POINT? I tell you why, if you inject a game to a base rom that doesn't have the same SAVE method, it's most likely not going to save your progress as it should like on a real DS. If you decide to use the in game RESET function to reset the game, in most cases you progress wont be saved and if you haven't made a RESTORE POINT to restore from, you have to start all over again. So from my point of view, this is important.
How to:
- Navigate to the \content\0010 folder of the NSMB game in loadiine format.
- Open the rom.zip file, you will notice the file in the ZIP file is called "WUP-N-DADE.srl", this is, you guessed it, the DS rom.
- Now rename the Kingdom Hearts DS rom to "WUP-N-DADE.srl" and create a zip file, naming it like the original file "rom.zip". Alternatively you could just rename the DS rom file and then just drag and drop the file into the rom.zip file and overwriting the file inside the zip.
- Now create the following folder on your SD CARD if you haven't ready done so, if you've used Loadiine before you should already have this folder: SD CARD\wiiu\games
- Now create a new folder of your game and place the 3 folders; code, content and meta folder inside the new folder you just created, it should look something like this:
SD CARD\wiiu\games\Kingdom Hearts <= Inside this folder should contain the code, content and meta folders.
- Loadiine picks up the game name from the folder you created in the "games", so rename the game to your liking's.
- Boot up Loadiine and play.
- Now repeat with your other Kingdom Hearts game, or any game you wish to play.
Note:
As I said above, this is BARE BONES injects in loadiine format to get you playing the games you wanted, you will notice that the game icons and game banners are still that of NSMB. If you want to get these changed, you will have to google on how to do this as I'm not going to go into details on how to do this. In a nutshell, the files needs to be in a specific resolution and file format using your preferred paint program.
If you don't care about the SAVE methods and your happy to just use the automatic/manual RESTORE POINTS, then you can use the above to inject whatever DS rom you want.
I repeat, there are many ways to achieve the above, but this is HOW I would do it in your situation if you want to get a game up and running quickly without the fuss of the correct game icons and banners.
