Pretty decent week for you people, I'm sure there will be some compaints though.

<!--coloro:Purple--><span style="color:Purple"><!--/coloro--><b><u>Read to know when a game could be dumped:</u>
These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. I love you with stealth.</b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

<b>Region</b> North America <b>Genre:</b> First Person Detective Adventure
<b>Developer:</b> Frogwares <b>Publisher:</b> Focus Home Interactive

This year I wanted a lot more adventure games on my DS, and my wish kinda came true as we've had quite a lot, sadly most of them have been meh ports of PC games. This is also a PC port but will it be meh?

Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective is going to solve a mystery. Elisabeth Montcalfe, who is going to marry his distant cousin, begs him for help. Her father disappeared some time ago. Scotland yard investigated the case and reported that, according to the evidence they found in the manor, Lord Montcalfe killed himself by self-immolation. His daughter refuses to believe this conclusion. In her heart, she still believes that her father is alive. Sherlock Holmes accepts her invitation to visit Lord Montcalfe's manor to begin his inquiry. The Manor is full of traps and secrets. Compelled to go forward, the detective struggles to the heart of the sanctuary, which is protected by Egyptian magic…

The reviews for the PC version showed that ti was a good game but then people like Myst on the PC and the DS version really sucked turkey balls. You know I get a feeling that this will be sucky.

Hurrah a new Valkyrue Profile game! Thank you SE for it not being yet another god damn Final Fantasy related title and its not a fucking port either! This will be the 3rd in the series which so far have made it to PSX & PS2.

The game will be centered on the misotheistic idea of "vengeance on the Gods". The protagonist is a young soldier named Wylfred who holds a grudge against Lenneth Valkyrie. Lenneth chose Wylfred's father, Thyodor, to become an Einherjar, taking his soul into her possession when Wylfred was a mere ten years old. Years pass and the young man's anger grows, until he is offered the Goddess's Feather, shed from Lenneth's wings and found near the corpse of his father, by Hel, the Queen of Niflheim. By becoming a renowned warrior like his father, he believes he can eventually be chosen to become an Einherjar, giving him the means with which to exact his vengeance. Joining him on his quest are his close friend and fellow warrior, Ansel, and Ailyth, a beautiful emissary from Niflheim. All is not well in the world as Wylfred sets out on his quest. Central Midgard is poised to be thrown into turmoil as a succession dispute erupts between the two princes of the Artolia Kingdom, Langrey and Cristoff. With the bordering nations of Villnore and Crell Monferaigne closely monitoring Artolia's internal strife, war may once again break out, giving Wylfred the perfect opportunity in which to complete his mission.

I've only played the first game on the PSX and I fount it to be very enjoyable, this game however sounds a lot different to it though. Also its by the same developers of the previous two Valkyrie Profile games as well as the Star Ocean series.

IGN claim that this could be the next great SRPG for the DS, read their hands on <a href="http://uk.ds.ign.com/articles/917/917971p1.html" target="_blank">here</a>. No release date for anywhere other than Japan but the other titles have made it so I reckon its safe to expect it next year.

<b>Region</b> Japan <b>Genre:</b> Action RPG
<b>Developer:</b> Matrix Software <b>Publisher:</b> Marvelous

The latest game from Matrix Software who previously did Alundra, One Piece: Gear Spirit, Final Fantasy III DS remake as well as the PS2 remake of Dragon Quest V.

Avalon Code is an action RPG boasting incredible graphics, a deep and engrossing story, and innovative game play mechanics. Using the main character’s 'Book of Prophecy', players can modify the rules of engagement during battle as well as weapon and monster attributes. The player even has control over the story as it changes depending on which gender the player chooses to play as, enhancing the ability to immerse themselves into the story.

Xseed are said to be releasing this in the US in 2009, I dunno about this game to be honest, might just be another good RPG but we've got loads of them already.

Ah ha! The next big Nintendo game...according to Nintendo. This is the one that includes an add on which for some reason people where hyped about until they fount out that it was a pedometer.

Its by Creatures Inc who co-own Pokémon and who developed the first two Earthbound/Mother games when they were known as Ape as well as Mario's Super Picross. To be honest I'd preferred it if they made a new Earthbound/Mother game instead but Nintendo like money so they carrying on with the casual games.

So what is it you ask? Its a personal trainer title which is meant to help you keep fit but walking about, thats it really. Yeah I have no interest in this at all, wake me up when the next Kid Icarus is announced.

Oh man I can't stand Dragon Ball at all but the game looks good and I'm sure you kids want it HARD.

Dragon Ball: Origins follows Goku and his clever sidekick Bulma as they travel the world overcoming enemies and obstacles to collect the 7 Dragon Balls. In the shoes of Goku, the player must protect Bulma from incoming enemy attacks using special skills, such as fighting with his power pole, or unleashing a kamehameha. Combined with Bulma’s ability to invent machines and weapons, the intrepid pair make a formidable team able to defeat even the strongest enemies or trickiest of obstacles.

The innovative controls mean the player uses only the touch pad to control Goku. Players must draw lines or shapes to direct the character and control the action by tapping on the screen, for example a double tap on Goku followed by tapping on the Ka-me-ha-me-ha letters unleashes his devastating signature move.

I hope its good enough for the fanboys.

And time to paste what I said last month: I liked the Japanese version of this but I felt that it played better on the PSP.

Mr. ESC, professional escape artist, must rescue people from burning buildings, flooded malls, and more in the creative puzzle game EXIT. Victims whom you've saved accompany you on your way out of the building, requiring your guidance every step of the way. The game includes over 100 scenarios in an array of settings, from burning hotels to a shopping centre caught in a blizzard. Exit DS retains the stylish look of the series while making use of some of the DS's unique features for possible gameplay advantages. The top screen shows a map as you work your way through the stages, allowing for the bottom screen to zoom in close to the action. You can chose to either point to locations to make Mr. Esc move, or you can select to draw out Mr. Esc's paths with the stylus.

DO NOT PLAY WITH STYLUS CONTROLS! I had to capitalise that as the stylus controls are bad, so change it to buttons and you'll have a good game.

Not a game. Based on the design concept of the MS-10 synthesiser. Which basically means it should be pretty comprehensive.

Known as the KORG DS-10 (musical instrument producers KORG provide the sounds) the software includes two duel-oscillator analog synth simulators, a four-part drum machine and a 6 track/16 step sequencer. Probably most excitingly though in terms of musical possibilities is that several units can be linked and played wirelessly. It's also promised you'll be able to exchange sounds and songs over wi-fi.

Only had a little time on the Japanese version but I did like what I saw.

<b>Region</b> North America <b>Genre:</b> Rhythm
<b>Developer:</b> Gameloft <b>Publisher:</b> Ubisoft

Another Guitar based game, this time from Ubisoft/Gameloft. Don't expect real songs here people.

With Guitar Rock Tour you can perform the guitar and drum tracks of the most popular worldwide hits on your NintendoDS and live the most explosive musical experience on the DS! Targeted for all audiences, Guitar Rock Tour features solo and multiplayer modes where beginners can have loads of fun right from the start and fans of music games can discover plenty of nuances. Without any musical knowledge, learn how to quickly master the basic controls of each instrument by using the Nintendo DS’s Touch Screen or buttons and kick off your career as a rock star!

Features:
* Play guitar and drums in 4 game modes using the Nintendo DS stylus or buttons.
* Treat your ears to a tracklist loaded with worldwide hits like: Beat It, In the Shadow, Girlfriend, Message in a Bottle, What’s My Age Again, Rock You like a Hurricane, Smoke on the Water, Underclass Hero, You Really Got Me,The River, If Everyone Cared, Who Knew, and more!
* A game full of surprises that will challenge all players, from beginners to pros of the musical game genre.
* An intense multiplayer mode to challenge your friends on the same instrument or bring together a band in cooperative mode.
* A roller-coaster career mode that takes you from a small garage to the biggest stadiums!

Cheap knock off? Probably but I have to admit, it could be fun despite the bad tracklisting (lol "Who Knew" & "Girlfriend", they're rock?) and the tracks are probably covers.

Liked Advance Wars? Get this.

Tom Clancy's EndWar for handhelds allows players to command an elite military force on the ground, in the air and on the seas during World War III. Take control of the elite U.S. Joint Strike Force, European Enforcers Corps or Russian Spetsnaz Guards Brigade and lead your faction to victory in three separate yet interwoven single-player campaigns. Each campaign includes over 30 battle scenarios taking place on real-world battlefields including Paris and London, and features increasingly challenging missions and objectives. Fight against a friend in tense two-player battles in any of the 100 ready-to-play scenarios or in your own custom-created missions.

Turn-based strategy with a twist: Simultaneous move and attack phases make the experience as intense and authentic as real-time strategy, three campaigns, one for each faction, with increasingly challenging battle scenarios and objectives.

There is also a 2-player versus multiplayer mode, including additional missions specifically designed for multiplayer battles and also a mission creator that you can either play on your own or with a friend.

It all sounds to me like a nice refreshing take on the genre but isn't it just a shitter that there is no online mode?

lol if SE did do the unoriginal thing and remade those, they'd be in Japanese. In fact if they are announced today, VP will probably be out in English first.

Why would you want yet another remake when you can have a new game? Oh well difference of opinions I guess.

Wow, excellent week! I hope Valkyrie and Avalon Code get a translation, although I'm not sure about AC since it's supposed to be released in the U.S...

Still, I want:
Valkyrie Profile
Avalon Code
Dragon Ball DS
Exit DS
EndWar

Btw, is EndWar just a AW clone?

Pretty decent week for [Japan].

But I'm very much looking forward to Dragonball Origins. I tinkered with the Japanese version, and though a few of the touch-screen elements weren't as precise as I was expecting, the game still was (what I played of it) a lot of fun. I hope they didn't censor anything because the playful, almost hentai stuff is funny and erotic at the same time. Very campy. Also, I've read that you can optionally use face-button control

Exit was excellent, and I'll probably give it another go, even though the Japanese version was perfectly playable.

i was gonna type up a response, but the last thing i wanna do is spark up a "ff sux / ff rox" argument and take this thread off-topic so i'll just leave it to difference of opinions

anyways, the AW clone looks neato, and if it has any WiFi i'm sold.

Exit is unfortunately crap, compared to the PSP version it controls really shitty, and I really wanted to like it ( LOVED the original on the PSP ). Also, there isn't really anything to look forward since the JP version is out since quite a long, and it was perfectly playable.

Endwar looks like Daisenryaku, which is TOTALLY AWESOME.

EndWar just a AW clone?
It sounds like it takes some elements from the series but adds to it too.

"Turn-based strategy game...with a twist. Instead of each side taking turns, each declare their actions which are then carried out simultaneously".

Basically it's a daisenryaku clone, I do think in one of the handheld versions your actions did play out simultaneously.
