Hi, I recently extracted files from a game named Mission Enchantix and I found 21 files in a folder named video, but I couldn't open any of them. Is there any way to open these?

.nc does not mean much but .vx is a commonly seen video format on the DS (part of the actimagine/mobiclip stuff). Sometimes devs will put an additional extension on files to indicate compression or something it needs to indicate (possibly not compressed in this case -- compression will not do much good on video files like this).

I don't know if we have a working decoder these days as some people were finally looking at it but if you just want to rip them to view on your own time or something then it is probably easier to use an emulator and record that. Looks like there is one saying opening_video.vx.nc so you can probably overwrite that with whatever other files you have there and rebuild the ROM if said videos are rarely seen in the game, or will require hours to play to get to.

Hi, and thanks for the explanation. Yeah these videos are bonuses for winning certain levels in REALLY annoying mini games. I once won one of these and I’m not really into doing it again. So that’s probably it, yeah I’ll try overwriting it, but maybe someone knows how to open them.

Went searching. https://github.com/Gericom/MobiclipDecoder is the one I was thinking about and it specifically says .vx is not supported.

Time to overwrite things then. Personally I suggest having a copy of ndstool/dsbuff/dslazy and just spinning up a version each time you want the next in the series of videos -- if it is only playing the "opening video" for you to capture it does not matter if it crashes at the end of it/50 hours into the game.
