I connected the adapter straight to laptop's sd card reader (while computer was off) and now i got different errorcode. This one was: 00F800FE
00000000 00000000
00000400 00000000
Then I took the adapter off and started computer and put it back again. Still windows won't recognize the card. We'll try again with other computer later.

As you can see my motherboard is a little bit different than the pictures in the first post. I have four golden soldering points in line (instead of three) and we assumed that the lowest point is still CMD. Can anyone confirm this? Now we get blue screen with this text:
BOOTROM: 8046
ERRCODE: 00F800EF
FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF
00000022 00000000
when we connect the adapter to sd-reader so we can't continue this any further.

i also have a regular 3ds with 4 test points [TP].
i didn't know until you mentioned it.
the serial# on the mobo is C/CTR-CPU-20. [CTR-CPU-01 for the 3 test points]
test points from top to bottom: TP252, TP251, TP253, and TP260.
same as 3 points 3DS except for the TP260.

and based on my other mods, TP260 is CLK. if it's the same then there's no need to
flip the mobo [which what i did to my other reg 3ds] to solder.
planning to dump the nand but it's on the latest FW so i'm kinda lazy to do it.
and yeah, the 3rd one, TP253 is CMD.

He may be getting interference from the long wires, too. I usually use about 5cm from solder points to USB/JST-XH 3S header, and 10cm from USB to SD. That's a total of about 15cm.

I kind of screwed up the pads on my board, making it impossible for me to solder on those points.
Are there any alternatives?

Dang son. Don't touch the soldering iron to anything that costs money if you're gonna be ripping out pads.

Take an old sound card, or any old hardware and practice soldering wires to different points on that board. Practice for a long time.

Meh, I don't really care as I don't use the console anymore anyways.
Besides, ripping pads doesn't make the console unusable, right?
*sigh* I had them all soldered (including the irritatingly small CLK on the back) yesterday, left it to finish it today, saw the dat0 had broken, and in a vain attempt to resolder it, ripped out the pads. It's frustrating to say the least.

It's really not that hard... I've done several now without ripping any pads. Remember flux is your friend and turn down you soldering iron if it has adjustable temps. I do not think there are any alternate points. If it still works, I'd just put it back together and call it a day.

what is that soldered to the cart detection leg? if you was just doing it to have nand access.......give up on it, if you where bricked or had accidentally upgraded seeking the help of someone with more experience may help but you have left very little trace left any attempts would have to be done by someone with quite a bit more experience

what is that soldered to the cart detection leg?

A wire (GND). Yes, it's one of those big wires because I don't have anything better. (Used a smaller one for CLK)

But yeah, I'll put it back together and hope someday 6.3 will allow homebrew. I just wanted to be able to update :/

After a while we started to try to get this mod to work. We changed the CLK point from backside of mobo to front (TP260). We got the same error as before:
BOOTROM 8046
00F800FE
00000000 00000000
00000400 00000000

We took the wires completely off and it starts still with the same error. Hope we didn't brick it completely. Here is a picture of the system, does anyone have a clue what we should do to get the device boot normally?

looks like CMD is shorted with ground, get some desoldering wick and get all that solder off the board........but it also looks like your using I high temp soldering iron use a lower watt soldering iron and don't just hold it on the points

Plus you have ripped one of the pads off... Personally I would suggest you leave it as is, if you get it booting again

Thanks for the answer. We'll try to get the solder off some day. And if I get it booting again I will surely leave it as it is.

Attached some photos of how I did my hardware mod. Used a four-pin Deans connector, keyed to prevent connecting it in reverse. Blends in almost perfectly with my red 3DS.

I got the 400 errcode similar to the above, but nevertheless I read the 6.2 NAND from it three times, with device reboots between each, and all three had the same MD5. I wrote my 4.5 NAND to it with no problems. /o/

what file where you trying to flash to the 3DS, it needs to be a dump from that exact 3ds, you cant use a dump from another 3ds..., how big is the file you are trying to flash to the 3ds?

Hello the file is 943... y try read button and tell me error 1117
it´s posiblle bad sd card internal reader?...
I TRY WITH OTHER PC.. and OK READ... but when try write, tell me error 1117. some idea?

Hmm, too bad there's no way to make a dump work on other systems... man, would be nice to have universal 4.5 dumps. :(

1117 is the generic I/O error.

Could be your SD reader(s), the mod or the eMMC chip itself.

Do the different PCs you tried it on also have different SD readers? If so your solder work might be suboptimal.

Hi I'm getting this on my blue screen.
BOOTROM 8046
00F800FE
00000000 00000000
00000400 00000000

I can still read to my PC from 3ds. Is this ok or are these back ups corrupted? I have a 4.5 backup I want to flash but want to make sure it's all working correctly first. Thanks

make multiple backups with different filenames, then compare their MD5 or SHA1 or whatever. if the hashes turn out to be the same, chances are it's fine.

I get different bootroom hex codes on mine seemingly for no reason, but haven't had any troubles with reading/flashing.

If you have a gateway, you can dump the NAND that way too.
