it is not as popular as a 3dsXL nand dumping because a normal 3ds is harder to solder.

if you don't care about the 1.0 firmware you can also update to a firmware between 4.1 and 4.5 (bothe 4.1 and 4.5 are also possible) and backup the nand with the gatewayloader (which doesn't require soldering)

yes, I care about the 1.0fw so I will need to open it, anyways thx IV got a suit instead this time but next time I'm out shoping I will pick one up :D

is it an 3ds ? dont do it 90% chance of bricking you 3ds
is it an 3dsXL? do it if you have a little experience with soldering
not entirely true. the 3ds is harder to solder (if you dont want to take the motherboard out). but if you now what you are doing it will go fine

Doing it is possible if you take extreme caution. I managed to do it on one (But broke camera connector, and the mod broke a few days after I did it)
But I also completly failed on another one and has to sell it for parts :\
