I can't remember, can i control N64 VC games with a gamecube controller?

sorry for the n00b question, i'm having a memory blank right now and i need a anwser

The control layout is available if you look at the manual using your Wiimote, each game might be different. Just in case you were wondering.
If I remember rightly its all the same:
D-Pad = D-Pad
Analogue Stick = Analogue Stick
C-Stick = C-Pad
R button = R Button
R = R
Start = Start

I think its L Button which could be the R Trigger or L Button depending on the setup.
Its been awhile since I played an N64 VC game.
