Going on current portables that emulate the N64 and their specs (PSP, iPhone, OpenPandora@850MHz) no, not for most games. Maybe Super Mario 64, but don't expect anything else to be full speed.

While I don't have a Pandora, I wanted one, until it took too long for production and then they raised the price, and with the 3DS so close I don't really want it anymore, but I did do a lot of research on it. The 64 emulator certainly runs more than just Mario and "simple games" It runs Perfect Dark, Zelda, a shit load more.

Besides, the 3DS is likely to be more powerful, and the biggest hurdle with the Pandora is the small base of consumers, which results in a small base of developers which equals slow development.

If the 3DS is hacked and runs homebrew, I bet it does N64 emulation. Likely not perfect (hell, PCs still can't figure out rouge squadron) but I bet it does it enough to be worth it.

After today's announcement of "3D titles revisited" on the e-shop, it sounds like it's possible that N64 games might arrive on the 3DS in some form, and even display in working 3D.

probably since they are remaking some of them to 3DS system like zelda ocarina of time, and starfox

not on e-shop, nintendo keeps away home console virtual console from their handheld
handheld vc for handheld, home console vc for home consoles
remakes are possible though as they already made some

and n64 emulation is definately a possibility, it just takes time, the resources are available

HELL YES!!! When I heard about the DSi with all of those extra ram/CPU things I actually thought It would have been possible to do that... But it never happend
frown.gif
... By the looks of the 3DS I can say that it has somewhere about 150-250 bits (I can't count in RAM or mhz) So yeah its possible, all we need is to wait until we will hack 3DS mode and some smart person will make an emulator...

who knows, maybe because of the transferrate and because 133 MHz is not enough to emulate the Nintendo ChipsetS?

If its cpu can hit above 700mhz it stands a very good chance. The cpu alone would be emulating, now if we can get some help from the GPU to handle other stuff like textures that'll be handy. We have to see how capable the 3DS hardware is.

According to Arm's website for the ARM11 http://www.arm.com/products/processors/cla...arm11/index.php It can reach 1GHZ performance value.
