My N3DS running Luma with A9LH was bricked after I updated the system firmware. Luma is up to date as I checked before updating my 3ds. I can't go into other menus by holding down the buttons while booting.

Tried taking the sd card out, does it boot normally?

Same thing happened to my N3DSXL when I updated to 11.2.
Tried booting without SD and tried using the latest luma, but neither of those suggestions worked.

I've also attempted to boot into Recovery Mode, but that's a no-go as well.

Decided to just just buy that Anker SD card reader and try reflashing the backup NAND.

is there an issue with the latest luma as this is the second thread of someone bricking when updating fw....which would suggest firm protection isn't doing its thing :s

As of 6.6 stable release, I've had no issues updating my fw (and that's coming from 7 different 3DS')

Yeah, was thinking the same thing, both within a few hrs of each other.

if otpless has taught us anything it should be that something working most of the time is not the same as always working fine, something has obviously gone wrong as once....sure maybe someone was a bit dumb and did something wrong but doesn't want to admit.....2 in as many days with the same story.....I would say it at least Warrants a bit more investigation, might have helped to find exactly what build of luma they were running before bricking but unfortunately updating luma to latest is probably the first thing both of them tried before making threads

Doesn't boot without an SD card. I've already tried replacing arm9loaderhax.bin with the latest one but it still doesn't work. I'm currently trying with another spare SD card and see if anything changes.

Edit: Nope still doesn't boot at all.

It seems like game patching (region emulation and language, custom code loading) isn't working on 11.2 N3DS aswell, even after changing the new folder structure in lastest commit.

Perhaps some unpatching needs to be done. As Pablo said, 11.2 might sneak code in that might stop custom code execution. If you are hardmodded, just restore your NFIRM to 10.4, and downgrade to 9.6, and this time DON'T upgrade until they say you can! Unless you can make it update to 11.1.

well I updated a system just before to 11.2 so it's not some secret stealth anti a9lh update method

it's probably similar to the otpless failures ( a intermittent bug) with firm protection just failing to be setup

if one of the people who bricked has a bricked nand dump they could probably check if FIRM was overwritten which shouldn't be possible under luma

What's going on...?now there's 2 cases like these...scary..Had I known about this I wouldn't have updated to 11.2(which I already did) without any caution at all.
