So, firstly, I'm going to use this prebuilt desktop. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Elite-830...rd_wg=j5GbS&psc=1&refRID=V3W99VFFNJS9SVHPJYFB
It has an Intel Core i7 3770 at 3.4 Ghz, max 3.9 GHz. It has 4 cores, and 8 subprocesses.
It has 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 500 GB HDD.

For the GPU, I'm getting a Gygabyte GeForce GTX 1050 with 2 GB of VRAM, with memory clocked at 7008 Mhz. https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Gef...=UTF8&qid=1521054731&sr=1-3&keywords=gtx+1050
For the monitor, I'm going with this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=psdc_1292115011_t1_B071784D4R

I'm planning on buying this keyboard, reviews are great, and it's mechanical, which I love: https://www.amazon.com/TOMOKO-Water...521055053&sr=1-5&keywords=mechanical+keyboard

For the mouse, going with this one. Pretty cheap, not infested with macros like some other mouses, and great reviews. https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Wir...D=41vHq2XU3FL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=detail

I'm going to buy this monitor, it has great reviews. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-...&qid=1521055333&sr=1-3&keywords=1080p+monitor

In total, around $550 dollars. Not bad at all.

Do you think this is a good build? Or can I get something better at a lower price?

Looks pretty good, especially if you're looking to hit $550 specifically. If you're willing to spend a bit more, I'd get this for the GPU instead, you'll be a bit more satisfied with it.
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti OC Low Profile 4GB GDDR5 128 Bit PCI-E Graphic Card (GV-N105TOC-4GL) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WWLWWJM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GByQAbB16PCY8

I'll check the peripherals in a second

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Keyboard looks pretty good for the price, just remember a) it's not true Cherry MX (which really doesn't matter, but switch quality may be lower), b) you're giving up the numpad, and c) the switches are blues, which means you have to bottom them out completely for the press to register due to the fact that they have that weird dual activation to get that tactile "click". It's GREAT for typing, usually not so much for gaming, but it's more than usable if you're used to it. Price is incredible, so I'd get it and try it, and if you don't like it stick it on Craigslist for some sucker to buy at the same price

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Mouse is fine, if it were me though I'd want a wired one. Down to personal preference, and honestly any mouse will do fine as long as you configure the sensitivity in Windows

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Monitor looks... Meh. You could probably find something better for about $10 extra, but if you want the best price possible that one will serve you ok. If it were me I'd look for monitors in the $150 price range that are a little more fully featured and then trawl eBay for the part number

Yeah true, bluetooth mouses are a pain. I don't know if I can really afford a 4GB GPU, but maybe I'll buy one used or on eBay. Also what's that monitor you say that is $10 dollars more and is better. If this is true, I'd definitely like it. Regarding the keyboard, I'll get the one I already use, which is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-8125-Enhanced-Multimedia-Keyboard/dp/B002RGQRTI
Which I find great for anything. Regarding the GPU, yeah, they're getting outdated. So I'll go with the cheapest of the 4GB versions. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MG3IX4F/ref=psdc_284822_t2_B01MCUYOWK
Of course, the GPU I'll ask for christmas, since I am not rich.

You cannot fit a full height graphics card in the PC you've picked out, only "low profile" cards will work, and the one I linked is the only version that's still for sale with 4GB of VRAM

As for monitors, I'll do some digging in a little bit. I'm used to shopping for used Freesync monitors, but that's really not an option for you, so I'll see if I can't find some decent high refresh rate stuff

Edit: And don't spend that much on that keyboard if you can avoid it (unless you mean you already own one and you'll just reuse it)

If you can spare an extra $50-$60, I'd recommend you get an SSD and reinstall Windows on it. It would be astronimically faster than that HDD.
I'd second that, but try to find a good deal on a SATA SSD on eBay. Looks like you can get 128GBs for $30-$40

Edit: This is also an upgrade that can happen later, when you have more money. You'll be able to live with the slower HDD for now if your wallet is crying

There aren't really any "good" AMD low profile cards right now. I think that there's a 2GB RX 550, but that's on the really, REALLY low end
It's better to wait till the mining craze dies down. Most good deals I see on r/buildapcsales are gone within minutes.
