I've been working a little bit on implementing some audio stuff for the 3ds. I have the ability to take the time and make a good music player, and I know this has been requested. However, I'm not convinced people would use it (I know I certainly wouldn't). So please answer the poll and honestly let me know if I should spend time making a music app or if my time is better spent making a game.

Here's a somewhat interesting video clip of audio stuff I was messing with when implementing dsp:

    Make a game.

That has to do with music.

    Problem solved.

I would say that this is a worthwhile effort!

I use the built-in one a lot, as the 3DS is a useful portable sound system that's better for getting some game tunes playing wherever i'm at without the problematic sounds of listening off your mobile phone (bonus points with the surround effect) or having to carry speakers around. My 3DS is always with me, therefore I can play the music at any moment.

Having a better player than that archaic thing would be a godsend, especially if it supported multiple formats.

I would definitely use it if it would support many file types.

If it supported exotic filetypes, such as video game rip formats like NSF, SPC, etc etc, I'd hands down use it.

I meant the file types that a media player like vlc support. I usually use my phone for music but it could be good to have an extra way to listen to the music.

Those might have to be their own programs.

Not really. Just include some open-source libs like gamemusicemu and you're good to go.

Hmm, I was thinking about this actually lol. One where levels are generated by music or otherwise influenced by it.

I wonder what the levels inspired by Swedish Death Metal would look/play like...

It if had background playback then I'm in (it won't happen unless someone write a plugin interface that's more flexible than NTR)

If it has a better shuffle algorithm than the 3DS's music playing app and had basic playlist/folder support, definitely.
