As well as bitlbee (though I notice User 997 seems to have tried that). There are a number of different ways.

What are the main strengths of ebuddy? I believe I've heard it mentioned before, but I'm not sure any reasons were given.
Also, would that be on the web browser, or in IRC?

Finally, we hear something from HtheB again!
Yes that's right, I wasn't available for some time because of my study.
I started now with my internship, so now I've got time
to fix all the things (Beup Live)

"what is ebuddy"
it's like meebo except they have a mobile website, basically you can sign on to all of the different chat protocols (check list @ ebuddy).
Pros: you can use it on ur main CPU with AJAX
Cons: on mobile it's on HTTP "refresh" so it's not instant, and while your typing something if someone responds you won't see it

I use Bitlbee as I like being able to see ppl type lol, but IRC wasn't really made for such things so ebuddy also has another pro of being MADE for chatting with different protocols. So if you're not technical (don't know what IRC is) or don't like IRC, go with ebuddy, if you need/like to know ASAP when ppl IM you use bitleebee
