Man, where do I start? Okay so I bought a *new*3DS XL which was already loaded with the mset exploit so that I could use the DS Profile method of getting into Gateway mode (which is GW 9.5). That was all well and good and I did it all successfully. However while playing Fantasy Life in emuNAND I tried to activate this thing called ally mode. It required me to save my game and then it would restart. So I did. Once it saved it booted me to system settings and asked me to put in my birthdate which I did. Then it gave an error that said the SD card was removed. So I powered off the system and now every time I try to get into Gateway mode using the DS Profile exploit it crashed right away (I don't even see the dragon) and then it says that there was an error and I need to restart my system. I tried with three micro SD cards already, all with the latest launcher.dat on them and none of them are working. I try it with the Gateway card inserted and without, but it's the same problem. It crashes and tells me to restart.

Any suggestions about what I can do and what went wrong? Thanks everyone.

    Maybe flash NVRam again?

Shit. I'm an idiot because I thought reformatting it would help. It didn't. Now when I go to DS Profile Mode it opens like an unhacked one. I still have my emuNAND on my SD card though and I have a backup of it on my PC too. But I need to rehack it. Could somebody link me a guide on how to set it up (since I didn't do it in the first place). I can probably borrow a copy of OoT to do it.

The reformat shouldn't have removed the patched mset, but it formatted the NVram.
When you boot through OoT just go to flash nvram and you should be fine.

That's reassurring. So all I need is a copy of OoT? I'm sorry but can you tell me exactly how to do it?

Actually, okay I think I understand. Tell me if I'm right. I need to get a copy of OoT, then use the edited save so boot into Gateway mode? Then all I need to do is run something called NVRAM Installer?

when you format you need to reinstall the DS profile exploit using the gateway blue card, that's the simplest way to do things.

I don't have the blue Gateway card near me. It's about 3 hours away actually. So yeah I know that it would normally be easier, but would OoT work if I don't have the blue card??

Yes, exactly what you need to do.

Only if the flashcard timewarp is installed.

You can use OOT or CN as an alternative entry point into the gateway menu however I don't think you can reinstall the DS profile exploit using them, but I'm not too knowledgeable about the latest gateway updates so it might be possible.

You can reinstall the exploit with the 'flash nvram' option in gw menu

Really? Isn't that what installing NVRAM does? Unless I'm completely misinterpreting Gateway's manual it doesn't look like I need the blue Gateway card at all.

You can flash nvram through gw menu or blue card, but for the blue card to work, you'll need the flashcard timewarp installed.

I will try it though Gateway menu. Now I just gotta convince my friend to let me borrow OoT. Luckily I have an o3DS as well so I can backup his saves, put on the glitched one, then install NVRAM, and then restore his saves. It sounds good in theory!

"Format System Memory" doesn't change the version of anything installed, just removes all user data and profiles (including the NVRAM Profile that triggers the reboot into the Launcher). So, mset should still be installed, and if whoever installed that also installed bluecardfix/FlashCardTimeWarp (which they really should have), then you have a couple options on restoring it.

    - You can use Zelda: OoT or Cubic Ninja, just as you would with a n3DS that hasn't had mset installed. From there, you can reach the Launcher menu and select "Install NVRAM".
    - You can use the blue card or any other DS flash card to run GW_INSTALLER.nds to install the NVRAM profile.

The metaphor I like to use is: Think of the system as a secure building. Zelda/CN is breaking in through the 3rd-floor window, a bit of a hassle but doable. Installing mset.cia unlocks the fire exit door and disables the alarm, but it doesn't have an outside handle. The NVRAM Profile is like a rock you set down to keep the door propped open, so you can get in whenever you want easily. If that rock gets kicked out of the way, the door will close, and you'll have to get in to reinstall the NVRAM Profile again. (Running DS Mode software clears it for some people.) Bluecardfix/FlashCardTimeWarp is... uhh... like making a fake ID for a buddy that lets him access the ground floor, which is enough to get to the back door and put the rock back in place? It kinda starts to break down around this point, sorry.

You'd only need the blue card if something happens to that NVRAM Profile. Otherwise, with it and mset properly installed, you don't need anything other than the Red Card.

Thanks so much guys! I ran to Gamestop and they had a preowned copy of Cubic Ninja for only $20! And they have a great return policy. I came back, ran the exploit, installed NVRAM, restarted, and then booted right back into emuNAND!!!
