Hacking MPlayer Wii CHANNEL!!!

madtamski, don't got more madd, by the looks of it everything is right, so unsure why youre having issues, firewalls, etc don't block it...so unsure, just keep messing with it, change you shared network settings etc.

Network initialises and then it jumps straight back to the top of the list.

Maybe a firewall or router issue. Looking for that.

I already disabled my firewall and all filters in my router, but still had the same issues

*edit* can everyone who has tried this post whether you were successful or not and the OS you're on.

I'm on XP SP3 Media Centre Edition (MCE)

I no longer have vista and don't even want to go near Windows 7 with this problem lol

strange that like, nothings blocking it so don't understand why it's not working.
Sometimes when you first click on it, it states network initialising wii ip etc, then it jump back to read from SD, re-click it, happened once with me that, someone else at another forum noticed it aswell.
erm all i can think of is the network share must be somehow slightly wrong, which it isn't in the pic. hmm

In share permissions you allow everyone to read so why are putting "tam" in the url? Have you tried changing permissions to Full control?

I have simple file sharing on, so many of the options are hidden. Have you tried it with just simple file sharing and letting windows set it up?

Right click...sharing...share this folder on the network, apply ..done.... (with allow network users to change files disabled)

This was another one of my tests which was similar to the one DJ posted.

I've also tried it with:

stream = smb://192.168.0.163/videofiles/

i.e. Guest user (which is 'tam' and 'everyone') and it still doesn't work

all that is correct, the videofiles folder can be in root of any partition drive, cant understand it not working, your router is obviously blocking it..?

Also as another precaution: Those who are uploading these compiled channels: ZIP. YOUR. FILES. Adds a much needed extra step of error correction to the download which should be mandatory with the state of liability of bricks here.

sorry, guess youre just going to have to keep messing with different settings with your network shares, firewalls, spyware programs. etc....weird that like, it works for most of us hmm

I'm using Win XP SP2 with Eset Smart Security 3.0.650.0

In my firewall settings i have set an exclusion rule for my shared folder and now it's OK.

The problem was that my firewall didnt let the avi files go throught the network...aka "web access protection"...

1 on 2 avi movies tested was ok but after 10 seconds of playing i have a "dump code" error.

I'll test other files to see the compatibility.

If i want to share a folder on another disk (e.g e:\-=Films=-) what should i need to write in the mplayerwii.conf file ?

stream = smb://[email protected]/e:\-=Films=-/ ?

edit: i have named my another disk shared folder "Films" in the share option because "-" or "=" are illegal characters.

I think now with stream = smb://[email protected]/Films it will be ok. I can't try it now because my kids are watching tv right now. I'll try it in 15 min.

I need this to work because all my movies are on this 500 Gb disk

what ever folder is "shared" you dont put the full route in mplayer, e.g.
stream = smb://[email protected]/madtamski/ (that folder is in root C drive)
stream = smb://[email protected]/IHATEWII/ (that could be in root A-Z)
aslong as the particular folder is SHARED by network sharing, then all you do is put the actual FOLDERS NAME in the mplayer config line... you get me??

Told you, no problem, as soon as youve got a folder shared in any root drive, it will find the path

remember it cannot play big files over the network!

AFAIK you just create it as a text file and then save it on the root of the SD card.

download the official mplayer wii 007 off wiibrew, and use that config file!
