QUOTELink is not working for everyone I'm pretty sure. And I didn't download it yet or I would upload it somewhere else.

Router assigned IP is correct. And your share can be in anything. C:, D:, X:,Z:, C:\hippopotamus, C:\zimbabwe\orange\39438483498

any of use got your samba working with a full partition hard drive, for example, i have my films shared folder in root C, and and config file all i have is>> /films/

How do i do it for a full root partition, like say it was called Movies (D:)

it doesn't work i tried different ways, only films folder in root C works ????help

exactly, so what is zerof on about!

i said the folder has to be in root C only

No, I think what it means is that your share has to be a folder and NOT the root of a drive (i.e. a whole drive).

You would have to create top-level shares for each folder contained within a drive.

eg.

Allowable shares:

C:\films\

shared as films

stream = smb://username:p[email protected]/films/

D:\WTF\ARE\YOU\ON\ABOUT

shared as wtf

stream = smb://username:p[email protected]/wtf/

Yeah I've decided my issues must be to do with my PC

I've tried switching off my firewall, removing all filters from my router, I even created a new user with no password, but still no joy. Network initialises and then it jumps straight back to the top of the list.

I launched the dol through Homebrew 0.8 but I don't that's the issue (I'm waiting for 0.10)

Oh well...maybe rodries can shed some light on my problems when he next signs on.

Cheers again guys!

nothing should be blocking you, if you have a "working connection" create a folder and place in root directory of any drive you have....e.g. named madtamski and network share it, then add in mplayer config file (this is your pretend username, pretend folder name, and without a password)

# The format is:
# smb://[user]:[password]@[ip address]/[folder]/[file]

stream = smb://[email protected]/madtamski/

# End of file

Why can't you understand that I've done all that...

Read my posts ffs! (you really are starting to get on my nerves...you simply do not read!)

I've said I'll wait until someone who knows what they're talking about can help me, and that's what I'll do.

*edit* Here's my setup, can anyone see anything wrong?

Network Share:

Snip from config file:

Code:
stream = smb://[email protected]/videofiles/

The user tam has no password.

192.168.0.163 is the IP address assigned to my PC by my router.

CODEK:\Documents and Settings\madTaMsKi>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂConnection-specific DNS SuffixÂÂ. :

djd won't give up.

From what I can tell, he's set everything right. Share is showing up and permissions should be fine. It's probably something simple or overlooked that is making it not work.
