I save my BMPs in Photoshop, they are RGB 8bit/channel (RGB/8) with a 24 bit depth, as far as I can tell the exact same as the original files.

However the modified BMPs (and only BMPs, PNGs are fine) will cause the SkinTool to give me an error "????????????????."
I'm guessing if I had the Asian Language pack installed, it'd show the characters correctly.

Anyone got an idea on what I'm doing wrong?

I got it to work by copying the image from Photoshop, opening up the file in paint, and pasting it.

Awesome... it works.

Pain in the ass though

Update: For shits and giggles, I decided to see what was different about the two files...
It seems that Photoshop likes to write "00 00" (hex) at the end of the files.
Removing that allows the BMPs to work perfectly fine.
