You probably got an older version skin. Some of the skins from the beta versions don't work with the newer versions because the newer versions have more things that were customizable, so the older ones wouldn't have those other things. I think mostly its just Moonshell2.00beta5 and under skns aren't compatible (although I could be wrong).
Well, moonshell2 is supposedly for all flashcarts, but I have never heard of anyone saying anything about moonshell2 and the N5 flashcart, neither that it works or that there are errors. You might as well just test it out (and tell us the results please) since the worst that can happen is that the nds file doesn't do anything.
Do this work with the N5 card or is this only for the R4?QUOTE(jurassicplayer @ Feb 7 2010, 04:02 AM) Well, moonshell2 is supposedly for all flashcarts, but I have never heard of anyone saying anything about moonshell2 and the N5 flashcart, neither that it works or that there are errors. Are we talking about the 'N5 Revolution' card by any chance (I get so confused with R4/N5 cards & clones)
- if so I happen to have one of these (somewhere) if I can find it I see if MS2 does work (or not) on it
IIRC - the N5 had 3 icon on the touchscreen. 1 for 'games' 1 for 'Media' and 1 for 'Slot-2' - If so I'm guessing you mean get MS2 to work from the 'media' icon
EDITED: OK I found my N5 & I've tried MS 2.09 on it and guess what ... It worked with no problem (well there was one but it's mentioned in the spoiler below) using the 2nd icon on N5 (it worked even if I ran it under 'games'). All I did was change 'moonshl2.nds' to '_DS_MSHL.nds'
Reformatted a microSd card with panasonic Formatter
Installed Moonshell 2.09 using 'Setup' program in download (this 'seems' important as I had troubles when I installed MS AFTER the system files)
Used moonshells 'setlanguage' program to change to 'English'
Install N5 firmware (v1.31)
DELETED 'moonshl' folder & _DS_MSHL.nds' file
Renamed 'moonshl2_directboot.nds' to '_DS_MSHL.nds'
As a 'bonus' I also downloaded R4TF.nds file & placed into '/moonshl2/resetmse/' folder
Placed microSD card > N5 > DSLite and switched on
Selected 1st icon (Games) and ran 'moonshl2.nds' (this was just so that a 'sav' file could be created)
moonshell2 started up with no problems - I then press [Start] > 'Exit to Firmware' to return to N5 firmware
Selected 2nd icon (multimedia) & moonshell 2.09 started up also with no problems
As mentioned above I had trouble if I loaded MS2 onto card AFTER the N5 firmware
I initially installed N5 firmware then Moonshell2.09 - checked to see if MS ran (which it did) - THEN deleted 'moonshl' folder & '_DS_MSHL.nds'
When I retried Moonshell2 afterwards (using either 'Games' or 'Multimedia' icons) - it came up with 'corrupt files' message on boot up
Please note I haven't checked EVERYTHING to see if it works - I've only checked to see if it boots-up OK

I use Mshl 2.06 with my N5 I haven't tried music/video files but I can confirm that everything else works (using linoul's ysloader) the only thing I'm having trouble with is Imgviewer (the nds file NOT viewing them through Mshl)
Just a quick note to the OP that the dl links aren't working! (not the mirrors, they work)
But other than that, thank you for this awesome guide! Very helpful to me!He Hee - you may've also noticed that it states
QUOTEDownload Latest Version Moonshell v2.05 Stable
How to edit text in moonshell? On other topic, a guy said that i can do handwritting recognition with 2.10, is that true? ; the only thing that i found is a memo editor that saves the handscribbled in a .bmp format, therefore not recognizing the text written, only creating a static image; thanks

When you highlight a text file & press [A] - hold [A] down & you'll get a popup menu - the bottom option is 'Boot text editor'
Highlight it & press [A] to open the editor
Once the file is open in top right corner there's an icon of a keyboard - tap that (and hold) then select the 'English Hand Write' option & you'll get the handwritting page up
Once you handwrite something in, the box in the middle shows what it thinks is what you've written, press the [+] to show up other possible letters etc
You'll have to experiment to find out what actions produce what letters, unless you look in the moonshell download file & look /run the HandWriteModelsManager.exe program
Hello, I'm fairly new but how do you get that music menu on the screen?
The one that has fast forward, play, rewind and shuffle.
like on the ones on ur skins that have mario, pikachu and etc.
