moonshell 2.00 beta 4 and related news
A few updates.
Moonlight has posted several pieces of news on the subject of moonshell, most notably beta4 of moonshell 2.00. For those just joining us moonshell is a popular multimedia player (video in DPG format, audio in many formats, pictures and text) for the DS.
The author again thanks the translation teams and skinmakers and reminds you all that the format may well change before the final version, the author is however attempting to finalise the specification and hopes to do so before week's end.

What follows is a rough translation of the release notes, a full changelog of the releases so far is in the discussion thread for this news.

Added MOD plugin (mod/it/mtm/s3m/xm/669/med/stm/amf/gdm/ult/uni/asy/imf/okt/stx), the author stresses it is alpha quality.
Added a plugin for GIF pictures
Added some more soft reset support (return to your cart firmware)
Added options the SwapDisp.txt to scroll the screen up or down the file list. (SwapDisp.txt ファイルリストの上下画面を入れ替えます。)

Reduced the amount of memory the plugin system used.
Backlight does not immediately turn off on the lower screen when first playing a video.
MDX deleted due to issues with the plugin
BBtnStop.txt the B button can stop playback during the playback of a list of files.
CarSuply.txt adds a "car mode" (think "party mode" of various media players) (CarSuply.txt 車載向け設定になります。)
Clust64k.txt deals with special cases of disk formatting (read the file before using).
ChkDskT1.txt is able to log details of the disc check.
POffMEnd.txt adds a shutdown after playback finished feature (single song or playlist).
Use M4A.txt to enable AAC/m4a plugins, capable of playback of most AAC files.
Run ignore16.txt to force the adapter to ignore the memory card/similar (not recommended)

Fixed
Fixed a bug with multiple keys being pressed in quick sucession (複数のキーをほぼ同時に押すと誤動作するバグを仮修正した。)
Fixed a stack overflow bug with the MP3 decoder.
Fixed a bug in the new bootloader, should be slightly faster.

Moonlight (1st January 2009)

Added
You can now choose to launch an application depending on the extension of the file (see moonshl2/extlink/readme.txt), note soft reset or similar to return to moonshell2 is not possible.
IPK images are now viewable.
Holding select for more than 3 seconds creates a screenshot of the current screen (aimed at skin makers).
Scrolling text on touch screen available outside of the scroll bar.
You can disable L and R when closing the screen.
With images less than 512 pixels you can use them as wallpaper for file lists (画像ファイルが横512ピクセル未満のときは、ファイルリストと同じ壁紙をランチャーにも張るようにした。)
Added the ability to scroll (reverse?) the screen up or down the file list(see SwapDisp.txt)(おまけ機能「ファイルリストの上下画面を逆にする」を[/補助ツール/おまけ機能/SwapDisp.txt]に追加した。)

Changed
Launch_Tab0_Launch.png and Launch_Tab1_NDS.png changed dimensions to 256x192 pixels.

Fixed
Commands launched using A, B, L and R now work properly.
Fixed a bug with unsupported file types in list view.
Fixed a bug with the option to hide file extensions hiding folder names.

Moonlight (31st December 2008)

DLDI files are no longer limited to 4 kilobytes.
Added some features linked to the charging state. (Or whatever is assigned to be determined)
L / R key combinations (such as single-click or press and hold) were added. (Readme_keymap.txt).
Startup time reduced slightly.
Changed to a secure memory initialization during startup for homebrew.
Can now open files without changing cursor position/highlighted file.
"DEFORUTOKODOPEJI that can be specified in the text reader."
The on-screen text reader can choose to have text / clock / off .
Character spacing can be changed in the text reader.

Fixed a bug that causes a memory access violation when attempting to automatically detect text encoding.
Fixed a bug that in the automatic DLDI patching that caused the patch to not be applied.
Fixed a bug that corrupts data being written added a simple check.
Several bugs affecting memory usage fixed.
Fixed a bug that can corrupt the configuration file when you save settings.
"Fixed a bug that number was wrong image file list display mode."
Fixed a bug that gets in the background screen menu system.
Fixed a bug that affected DPG playback where the file will not play until the end.
Fixed a bug that the wrong conversion algorithm when DPG decoder used to convert YUV-> RGB.

MP3 playback to fix the bug and have to stop opening and closing the lid.

Awseome. Can only recommend using these Betas for watching DPG Movies, quality has highly improved from 1.71.

NesterDS is nice to have, but still has a long way to go before it can replace NesDS. Currently a lot of frames seem to get skipped, which makes emulation a bit choppy.

EDIT:
ganons, you don't need to DLDI patch with AK 2.1, that's only for carts that don't auto-DLDI patch. Works fine here with AKAIO. That error message you see is nothing to worry about.

As said, you have to format your microSD with smaller clusters . 32kbyte max.
