I have a burnt copy of the game. Been playing the single player quests, but will eventually want to play online quests. Btw this is my first monster hunter game that I've played over a few hours and I never played them online.
My first set of questions deal with the game itself, and my other ones deal with how to play online.
- How much added gameplay does the online give you? At first I thought the online was just co-op of the single player quests, but now I realize that it gives you more quests? Would I be able to finish all of them in the 20 free days? Is it consistently updated?
- Would I be able to extend my subscription online even if I don't live in Japan, and use a NA wii? What limits me in that area then? Using an out of country credit/debit card? Would importing japanese wii points cards solve this issue if it is a problem? Yes you can expand your subscription either using a credit card accepted by the shop channel or japanese Wii points
Now for my questions relating to changin my wii's region. I remember changing my region before, and even have the necessary apps, but that was long ago and I forgotten about how I did it. I really want to play online, but as of now I get an error code when trying. I found this for a solution, but I'm hesistant on doing it, because I really don't want to accidentally brick or semi brick my wii.
- Do I need to change my region to Ntsc-J if I'm just installing the Japanese wii shop channel to play online? Will it have any effects on my wii that I may not want.(I have a modchip so playing games from other regions isn't really a problem for me). If I change it back to NTSC-U will I still be able to use the Japanese shop channel and online? If I accidentally brick my wii will I be able to fix it? What exactly is a semibrick/brick and what problems does it bring? Also the last one, I realize that the region changer also changes the version of Firmware to 3.2 from the other thread I read, or am I wrong? I went through a lot of trouble to get the SD Channel to work, and really don't feel like doing it all over again. Will I lose any features that are present in later versions of Firmware?
Thanks for all help, and sorry if I feel like a nuiance. I really don't get into too much into soft-mods when I have a mod-chip that does everything or most things automatically. The only time I use softmods is when my modchip doesn't play a game right, and usually USBGecko or some other program will run it for me. That and I use emulators a lot.
Well, I am already playing online and its a blast. Teaming up and hunt the monsters down^^ Mostly its that what you can and should expect from Monster Hunter.
Going online is easy:
1.) Delete your shop channel account- you will need your Wii serial no to do so.(option for deleting the channel is inside the shop channel)
2.) Install ARC(AnyRegion Changer) execute it and set your shop region to japanese=1(dont forget to save settings in ARC) then reboot to Wii system menu.
3.) Enter the shop channel and its japanese, accept the Eula and leave the shop channel.
4.) Start Monster Hunter and go online.(You will have to accept the online rules and stuff and select wether to get 20 free online days or 200 Wii points)
5.) Select Server and hunt ´em down^^
