I have a friend in Europe who plays Tri, whereas I play in the USA. He has a UK version of Tri, I have a US version.

Now, I know that the game is set up so that people with different region versions of the game can't play together. However, I read somewhere a while back that if my friend in the UK were to get a US version of Tri (and hack his Wii to play said), that he'd be able to play on the US servers, albeit with some lag.

Is this true? I've done a few quick Google searches, and haven't found anything even talking about it, so I figured I'd ask before either of us wastes our money.

I appreciate your help in advance.

I've never actually played Monster Hunter Tri, but when I play the PAL version of Mario Kart on my USA Wii, my regional VS races are in the European rooms. I'd figure it would work the same way with Monster Hunter Tri. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

Also, to save all his hard work on his character, get him to convert his PAL save to NTSC. Otherwise he'd have to start from scratch. That can be hell if you have put hours into your character and gear!

EDIT: Removed dead link. Can't find the guide I used to convert my save anymore

Yeah, that'd be good if he doesn't have to start over again...

Anyone else have a guide for converting a save like this?
