H i guys,

Was wondering if anyone could help......I have soft modded a few wii's in the past with 100% success rate but this wii I have at the moment has got me stumped. It is a PAL wii on 4.2, I have followed the guide on the first page for every step (I did not update the machine to 4.3), Installed homebrew channel and bootmii as boot 2, ran and installed IOS236 Installer v5 MOD no problems, ran and installed YAWM Multimod Batch no problems, did not install prii loader. Now normally for every other machine I have done I would install neo gamma to play back ups from usb hdd and all would play fine.
BUT this machine after installing neo gamma takes much longer than usual for the first 2 top lines to appear then when they do you can mount the wbfs hdd and it can see the games, when you select a game neo gamma takes a long time to run through the normal checks they when the game would normally launch it just hangs at a black screen, same for every game on the hdd, I have also tried USB Loader GX but that is exactly the same, can see the games on the wbfs drive but hangs on a black screen on every game.

What am I missing ?

Or is this machine just plain screwy ?

Thanks for any help.

I'm no expert but have you tried using another HDD?

Thanks for the reply dickydooda,

I have repeated the guide 3 times all in all now making sure each step is done completely, I have also tried a different hdd, one which I know works with wii's and have the exact same result, backup managers can see the games on the wbfs hdd but hangs on a black screen for all of them.
This is driving me nuts as I have modded a number of machines using this method without any problems.

Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem may be ??

Are you using USB Loader GX?
Try deleting the config files, GXGlobal.cfg.

I have modded my Wii with success! Reading the Complete Softmod Guide and these forums (this topic in particular) I pretty much understood what I was doing. I have an Iomega 2TB HDD that seems to work fine (I'll add it to the wiki after I have done some more testing), and I tried both USB Loader GX 2.0 and WiiFlow 2.2, both seem to work as well.

Thanks for the authors of this tutorial, the authors of the Complete Softmod Guide for providing useful information about softmodding and thanks to those who answered my questions (Lacius and burritoboy9984 in particular for answering the most of my questions).

I am trying to convert an iso file with Game Bulk Extractor for SNEEK/UNEEK+DI.I dropped the iso folder in Modmii,I selected the path to save the extraction and hit enter. The message I keep reading is that I do not have enough free space"create more free space or select a smaller course folder and try again."

My HDD has a lot of free space,so why the program keeps saying me the same message?
I don't believe that there is a bug to fix,the most possible case is that I am doing something wrong, considering my luck...

EDIT:Wrong thread.Please mods,delete this post....Sorry!

FIRST - Thanks to the authors of this tutorial, the Complete Softmod Guide, for providing useful information about softmodding...

I need some help/input.

I had a 4.1U with the HBC already installed. I followed the instructions on the CompleteSoftmodGuide and did the up42u.zip which got me to 4.2U successfully. Then I performed the 42mod.zip guide and followed everything to the letter, successfully. Everything is working and my system is 4.2U

My question is, what do I now? How do I get to 4.3U? (is it necessary) Do I just follow the same instructions and perform the 43mod.zip? - or - am I done / good with what I have: 4.2U ?

Thanks in advance.

You don't have to update to 4.3
No necessary changes only security update.

Hey guys got a slight problem hope you can help me:

System menu 4.3E
Smash Stack Method using Super Smash Bros Brawl wii (PAL)

Now I've read the guide throughly, I've downloaded the save file for Smash Bros without saved game.
I've brought the game new so once I loaded it up, I get asked do I want to make a save file do I click yes or no?
I've tried by selecting no so far.

I went into vault and there are no custom stages to delete, so I went back into the main menu and pushed in my SD card, went back into to the custom stage builder screen and I didn't get the hackmii installer screen.

I retried by deleting the Korean file and still nothing what am I doing wrong?

This time at the beginning I chose yes to make a save, went into the stage builder screen deleted 3 of the stages, exited out to the main screen pushed in my SD card went back into vault/stage builder and no hackmii screen?

Using a 2GB SAN DISK SD card.

So I'm modding a Wii using this guide. The Wii is on 4.0U, so I tried to update it to 4.2 using the provided files first. Ran YAWN, it seemed to go through just fine, but then when I checked, the Wii is still showing that it's on 4.0. What gives?

You have a PAL wii, but are messing with the Korean file? Try creating a save, deleting the 3 custom stages, then go to the menu, then go back into stage builder.

See above. Try leaving your sd card in all the time.

After it installs all the wads, before it restarts, check and make sure it says all files successfully installed. The system menu will be one of the last 2 to install...

I installed cIOS249[56]-v21d2x2.wad from the cios21dx zip pack and if i go into the settings of wiiflow it reports it as cios 249 rev 21 base 57

Does wiiflow support detection of the d2x modified cios's? Because if you load up cios21.zip and cios21dx.zip and compare the crc's you can see they don't match. So my direction into getting an answer would be posting in the wiiflow thread.

I installed cIOS249[37]-v21d2x2.wad and wiiflow reported it as cios 249 rev 21 base 37 like it should be.

I also installed cIOS249[57]-v21d2x2.wad and its reported as cios 249 rev 21 base 57 like it should

but installing cIOS249[56]-v21d2x2.wad still reports as having a base of 57 and i believe its actually 57.

I just modded a friends wii yesterday and installed

cIOS249[56]-v21d2x2
cIOS250[57]-v21d2x2

I also setup his hard drive and put black ops on it.After doing so i went right into the settings for black ops and changed the ios to load from 250 instead of the default 249 and it loaded but would just forever loop right after it showed the controller setup for the gun and then it just said

loading .....

over and over

*this makes me believe that 250 was actually base 56 and not 57*

So i went back into the settings and changed it back to default for the iso which would be 249 and the game loaded instantly.

*which shouldnt have happened since it was supposed to be base 57*

This makes me think that the two wads below are actually the opposite of what it says they are. 249 is really [57] and 250 is really [56]

cIOS249[56]-v21d2x2
cIOS250[57]-v21d2x2

I can't tell for sure about 250 though because wiiflow doesn't tell me what it is but if it did have a base of 57 like it supposed to then it would have loaded black ops for me.

I have a new black 4.3 wii. Followed the guide and everything worked. I installed a wad without problem. I try to install usb loader gx forward/channel wads and I get error -1029 with wad manager 1.5

Stumped

Download the latest version of CFG and go to options and see what it says. I didn't test each wad when I put that file pack together, I just downloaded them with modmii and zipped em up.

Use cios 236 to install it.

I just installed cIOS250[57]-v21d2x2 (taken from 42mod.zip) and black ops worked fine using ios250, wouldn't work with 249 or 250 before.
Using USBLoaderGXV2.0 (channel).

Edit:
Should have mentioned it was from a usb hard drive, black ops worked fine from dvd before installing cIOS250[57]-v21d2x2
