yet again your knowledge has been a great help, just use your updated guide to softmod my friends wii with great success.

i was wondering i have mine modded from a previous version ummm i can't remember how far back but it used the trucha bug restore and some other files that are not used in this revision.

are there things updated in the wads that would be of use to me,

basically I'm soft modded should i use this new revision of the guide and files to do the process again and be modded to the latest revision.

thanks again for all the great work and apologise if this question has all ready been answered

I am planning to buy a new wii and have a choice of buying an EU or US or korean(we don't follow a specified region here in Dubai), will I be able to play US games on an EU wii and the other way around?
is there a downside to playing imported games on the wii?

thanks

I have a question. My kids got a Wii last year and I decided to softmod it after sucessfully softmodding my launch Wii last year.

Anyways - I'm following the guide here and I get to:

"Restoring the Trucha Bug, Removing Stub IOS's, Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS"
Run MMM [Multi-Mod Manager]
Go down to select Install & Patch IOS36.
Choose Express Mode.
Go down to select Remove stubbed IOSs.

My problem is that this isn't an option? I don't see "Install & Patch IOS36" anywhere. I did have an IOS36 wad on my SD card that I installed at this point only to realize it wasn't the same thing.

What do I do at this point. I have bootmii installed (IOS) and made a backup. Should I restore this backup since it takes me back to the point right before I installed the IOS36? I'm a little afraid because when I went to Bootmii restore it gave me a big ol' warning because it couldn't find BootMii in Boot2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you're using Multi-Mod Manager from the modify.zip and not Yet Another WAD Manager Mod from the update.zip. The option for Install & Patch IOS36 is there on the main menu. It should be between Manage Wii Channels and Remove Stubbed IOSs.

Also no need to restore the backup. That's always a last resort. Installing the patched IOS36 will just overwrite the previous version.

I modded my wii with this method. I am doing ok

Question though:
I already have another wii that I modded over a year ago (i dont remember how i did it)

anyways, when I install channels with wad manager I need to choose IOS36 on this wii, but on my other wii I can use IOS249

MY question is: WHY?

lol its not a big deal, just wondering. Also does thi swork on ALL LU64+ wiis?

thanks in advance

to both of u guys... it works on pal wii's and lu64+ wii's

fyi, to install wads you need to use a fakesigned IOS, 36,249,250,222,223,202,224 all work ASSUMING THEY ARE INSTALLED. For example, if a wii still has a stub IOS249, then obviously it cant be used for anything.

btw, older wad managers wont work if u use 249 and u have cIOS249rev18+ with a non-IOS38 base wad, instead use YAWMM or wad manager 1.6 update2

Thanks for the quick answer XFlak

So is it hurting anything that I do not have a fakesigned IOS249?

Cuz it is easy enough to use IOS36 when using wad manager, but I am just worried that I need IOS249 for something else...

BTW this second wii is my cousin's wii and I just dont want to mess it up for him. Sorry if these questions are all a bother to you

okay I understand that I may be a hassle to everybody here, but I still do not understand

I am able to run USB Loader GX. When I look at the credits for usb loader it says that i have

Rev889c IOS249 (Rev19)

doesnt that mean I have IOS249 then? If I have IOS249, doenst that mean that my wad manager should be able to install wads with 249, but it will not. It will install with IOS36

I know that I am asking stuff that really shouldnt matter I guess, but I just want to understand it better!

Thanks in advance
