Well I finally messed up. I not quite sure what happened. All I know is that she [my stupid sister] tried to install HBC while she was on 4.0U and then she got it to install. Afterward the numb NUTS updated through nintendo to 4.2U. Although her system menu was not bricked, I went ahead and did a complete reinstall using the slightly older version of "Modify any wii 4.2 and below". The one i am talking about is where i took the modify.zip and worked from there. I had to use anytitle deleter and so on and so forth. So basically when I was done, I proceeded to install preloader. Upon the first try I got a code dump, then I restarted and went to HBC via system menu, and installed preloader successfully.

The problem is that now the system menu will not show up. I can only boot HBC but not system menu.

So is there any way I can recover the system menu without a NAND backup.

thanks guys very much.

This happened to me when I was following TS's older guide.
What I had to do was install system menu wad 4.2 and it fixed it up.

hey I downloaded NUSdownloader and downloaded 4.2U and i got a folder with a long name, and within the folder had many different files also with long names.

I need to know how to set this up on my sd card? do I need to rename any of the files?

please help someone, i really need to get my siss system menu back up and running

well i cant seem to load any games with the neogamma loader.
i stays at a green screen

Green screen means ur trying to load a game of the wrong region for your wii. you need to use the same region if u want the game to load.

When you try to load the system menu does it say ES identify error or something down the bottom of the preloader screen? If it does then you are probably trying to load the system menu with the wrong IOS. Go into preloaders settings and check what IOS the system menu is set to load with. Try setting it to use IOS 60 or 70. You'll have to go through a few of them to get to it cause its not in numerical order. GL and happy new year

[*] Installing WAD, please wait...
>> installing ticket... error! (ret = -2011)

Press any button to continue...

What do I do?

the guide worked fine on my LAH10106300XX (4.0e) Wiikey1 installed. Many thanks on making my 2nd ever update so easy.

however - it won't work on my brothers LAH111426XX (4.0e) no chip installed

my brother's model can't allow me to install Hackmii in boot2. I noticed that on mine I could only follow the guide through if I booted into Homebrew from the boot2 setup. Going into Homebrew from the system menu and then rebooting into Hackmii was also unsuccessful for me. It seems that I must get Hackmii installed in boot2 to update this 2nd Wii (using the new GBA guide)

At the moment I'm thinking that I need to take my brothers back to a version prior to v4.0e to be able to install Hackmii to boot2... or is this simply a restriction of the model???

I've run PimpMyWii over my brothers Wii to get it up to speed, followed by your 4.2 update guide. Games are now running fine in Coverfloader, though the lack of HackMii in boot2 makes me just a little nervous.

Any help appreciated =)

Oh yeah, there's a check box on the bottom of the NUSD window. It's next to "Pack -> WAD".
After you enable that and download it, there should be the .wad file in the folder.

Im having some problems...

I upgraded to 4.2E using the above guide:
I installed IOS70-64-v6687.wad & System Menu-NUS-v481.wad, then installed the 22 (not 25 as per the guide (there are only 22 files)) WADS (from the updatepal.zip) using the batch install method (btw I upgraded to 'WAD Manager 1.5 Multimod v3b').
This all appeared to work fine and now my Wii Settings reports 4.2E.

I moved onto the Modify 4.2 instructions (and used the modify.zip) ran the bannerbomb again, made the NAND backup so far so good.
Now onto the problem I am having: Restoring the Trucha Bug

I load "DOP-IOS MOD" (v10.1 SVN r48)
Select "Install an IOS that accepts fakesigning"
Press B (No IOS reload)
Choose "Downgrade IOS15"
It then says:
"Preparing downgrade of IOS15 from revision: 523 to: 257"
"Getting IOS15 revision 523..."
Choose "Load IOS from SD"
*Does it checks no visible problems*
"Getting IOS15 revision 257..."
Choose "Load IOS from SD"
It then appears to load something and then the screen quickly flicks to:

QUOTE said:
We are now returning you to your loader. If you successfully installed a fakesign accepting IOS
Select IOS36 as your IOS to load when you return to Dop-IOS MOD

Press A to Exit.

This is now when im stumped
blink.gif

I dont want to mess around with it incase I brick my Wii.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks
you said you installed ios70 and system menu wad 481

Well 481 if for 4.2U you said your on 4.2E which would be system menu wad 482

I'm really stumped right now....

As I finish the Downgrade IOS15 part, it immediately flickers and transfers to:

We are now returning you to your loader. If you successfully installed a fakesign accepting IOS,
Select IOS36 as your IOS to load when you return to Dop-IOS MOD

Press A to Exit.

Help?

Just re-enter DOP IOS MOD, choose "Install fakesign blah blah" and follow the guide. Even though the guide doesn't state it, between each DOP IOS MOD step, you will be rebooted into HBC. Just go back into DOP IOS MOD, choose the 2nd option ("Install IOS with a fakesign" or whatever) and do what the guide says. Also, even though the guide says DOP IOS MOD will ask you to press "1" at one of the steps, this will not happen. Ignore that.

After you've restored IOS15, go back into DOP IOS MOD again and this time, use the first option to boot up IOS36 and delete the superfluous dummy IOSes. Then you will be done.

I must say that the current (the new one from just a day ago) guide is quite lacking in clarity. It seems to be a mixture of new and old, some of it incompatible with DOP IOS MOD, since the guide claims a few things will happen that will not happen when you use DOP IOS MOD (but it will when you use Trucha Bug Restorer). It can be quite confusing and a lot of people don't want to take the risk and go with educated guesses since a mistake could cost you your Wii.

I have IOS249-v14.wad and cIOS250-v14.wad installed in my Wii 4.2E
But I want to use cIOS249-v16.wad and cIOS250-v16.wad instead.

1. For installing cIOS250-v16.wad, do i need to uninstall cIOS250-v14.wad first?

2. For installing cIOS249-v16.wad, I'm not sure whether I can keep IOS249-v14.wad and install cIOS249-v16.wad straight away as i presume they r different WAD because there is no cIOS infront.

Can anybody clear this up for me please.
Thank you

Wishing there was a backup of the original guide, used it 6 times without any problems.

Same problem as the two above me.

I press A on install a patched IOS36

when it tries to load from the SD card i get the message

Could not open file: sd:/ISO36-64-v3551.wad
Could not open file: sd:/ISO36-64-v3551.wad.out.wad
error reading ISO into memory
ISO36 installation failed

Why can it not open the file when it's on the card?
What am I doing wrong?

This worked....finished the guide.
Now my problem is that I get DVD Read Errors when using NeoGamma.
Lu73 serial on the new Wii.

Think it is the new D3-2 chipset DVD drive....
