Hi guys,
im having hassle with trying to run anything thru HBC. i am currently trying to run TBR and go thru the motions but i get a black screen and nothing happening after i press load.

i have installed HBC and boot2 but totally twatted step 2 of the guide........help!!!

Hi xzxero, Nabster mentioned in his guide about IOS 38, 53, 55 and 61. After following your offline guide, I was wondering how to install the IOS 38, 53, 55, 61? I already updated to 4.1U before softmodding. I am assuming I only now need to install IOS 53 and 55? or none at all?

I have one question. How the best secure this type Wii from brick? BootMii is installed in IOS and Preloader its' all?
as long as you don't delete your system menu preloader and bootmii as a ios is fine.make sure to make a nand backup.

Why does the preloader installation only comes at the end of the tutorial? Couldn't you happen to need it if some step goes wrong?

If you have got it from the start, will it need to be reinstalled? I read that installing any new system menu uninstalls preloader, and in this tutorial I guess that only happens during the 4.1 updater, or does the preloader stay intact (if already installed) through the whole tutorial?
For example, I previously installed preloader under 3.3 and had to change the IOS to 60 and back to 30 because the "system files were corrupted". What if this happens again after installing wanin's 4.1 and the preloader gets uninstalled?

I also read that "Preloader also depends on the System Menu IOS and runs on the PPC side, so it only saves you from brick problems that affect the System Menu". Does that mean that the the IOS steps in the tutorial (can) alter the System Menu IOS badly? Or those (possible) problems are exactly those that preloader is able to recover from?

Sorry for this kind of noob questions, please be patient

okay,

i have managed to run TBR to the run DOP-IOSv7 part, however it wants to get stuff from the net rather than whats on my sd card.

Can i skip this and go onto update my firmware (currently 3.1e) and install pre loader?

getting a very sore head now and have to go to work!!

Trying to follow this guide, upgrading a 3.3u currently running HBC. I followed steps to virginize wii while leaving HBC intact. Have required files on SD card but cant load.

go to data management/channels/SD card fine, asks to load boot.dol, Yes...get scam warning screen, bottom "press 1 to continue" here is the problem, the 1 button does not respond?? both wiimotes synced and working fine on everything else. At this screen I have no response from either remote? Any one know what I may be doing wrong..and since I have HBC already installed can I continue on loading the required files from the app menu on HBC?

Thanks

oK ... I am a novice... So sorry if questions are too silly.

so I was try to execute all steps last night, but when booting with SD card,
Wii shows a screen informing about Bootmii, HBC, and DVDX,
but I was not able to do nothing...

Should the last Bootmii/HBC/DVDX installation I did a few week ago causing the issue?
Does the NAND backup too important?

Well, yesterday I went ahead, running:
. all the TRUCHA steps
. CIOS installation
. DOP ISO
. and WAD Manager

but then again I faced an issue running Preloader.29
IT HANGS the Wii
??? should be the SDHC (4GB) I am using?

Thanks

Use dop-iosv7 to update desired IOS's. Your wii must be online though.

Preloader resides within IOS60 and the System Menu. Updating the System Menu should remove Preloader. If a brick were too happen during any of these procedures, then preloader wouldn't be of use because it would be a worse type of brick. Preloader, like you said, can only recover from banner bricks and other mild bricks.

Your didnt put the files in the right folder.
The DOP-IOS part of the guide only allows you to play wiiware/vc games off your sd card.

You can still continue on since you already have hbc, but i recommend you try again afterwards so you can install Bootmii and make a NAND Backup.

A NAND backup can save you from a brick. The only reason preloader would hang is because you didnt do the trucha bug restorer steps correctly. also preloader will not read your hacks.ini if you are using a sdhc card.

Thanks. Back to the tutorial then, should I be afraid of the 4.1 firmware updater? I have already installed it on my other Wii, but it had 3.2 (not 3.3), though after the update the system menu still says 3.2. Not having BootMii as boot2 sucks, can't be confident enough.

if it still says 3.2 then it didnt install. I recommend you the the system menu wad with NUSD and install it yourself.

The manual install you are suggesting is part of your Offline Method, right?

Anyhow, some guy just told me this before:

everything worked fine, but the system menu still says 3.2E. is that normal? I also installed preloader, so any game (including sports resort) works without asking for any update (preloader hack is blocking updates). Is this normal?

no its not normal, it means your still on 3.2
yea download the system menu wad via NUSD and install with wad manager.

Must I do anything before? I have followed this tutorial: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=144835

It recommends to "Using Dop-IOS install IOS60 v6174 with Sig Hash Check" after running the firmware update, while you suggest otherwise. Does that matter?

I am deviating a lot, but since I am talking about my 3.2 Wii with BootMii as boot2 that I am completely confident with, and I want to apply your tutorial to my other 3.3 Wii (no BootMii as boot2), I could always restore my original 3.2 backup, try everything out, and mimic it in my 3.3 Wii, that is "unsafe". What can go wrong just by starting from 3.3 instead of 3.2? I guess a lot... This may be anyhow a silly question, since you have most likely tried it out on your own Wii with thousands of configurations. From googling, I reckon that 3.3 is a weird version. Could I, for instance, upgrade 3.2 to 3.3 through NUS and replicate the scenario for my other Wii, or would it just be the same?

Thanks again, and sorry for the "memory dump".

hi there. i followed every step to the letter, and when i put my original copy of wii sports resort into the wii, it still says i need to update my consoles firmware

i am using a japanese wii. started from firmware 3.3j, and had homebrew and backup loader channels already installed..

please help!!

when running the firmware updater 4.1, everything seems to install fine, only at the last step it says error.

when it says

installing "system menu 4.1J", please wait...
>>installing content #09... ERROR! (ret = -1010

thats where it stops.....

please help

I'm far from an expert, but can you boot into the Homebrew Channel? Which message (or no message - black screen) do you get?

I have upgraded my 3.2 Wii to 3.3 and followed your tutorial. Everything worked fine.
The thing now is that neither through the disc channel (I have a modchip) nor neogamma I can load Wii SPorts Resort (it worked before with 3.2E + preloader skip updates hack). Either way, the Wii just restarts. I tried an older game (Boom Blox) and worked in both.

Another interesting thing is that if I do not disable disc updates in the preloader Wii SPorts Resort still asks for an update, though I am on 4.1E. Probably this is normal, dunno.

Do you have any ideia of what the problem might be?

UPDATE: Virtua Tennis 2009 does not work with the modchip (disc channel) but works via neogamma. Sure something is messed up when it comes to newer motion plus games. I haven't installed cIOSCORP so there should be no interference between the two.

Thanks,
hugo

what kin of modchip do you have?
the update is not neccessarily a system update, just an IOS update

I have a D2CKey, but that shouldn't be the problem.

Ok, I have ran the RZTP.dol fix in http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/213556-neog...ublic-beta.html and it worked, with neogamma R6 002 fix (apparantly R7 does not have it). I wonder why Virtua Tennis worked without any fix, it is a motion plus game as well.

The thing is that Wii Sports Resort still doesn't work via the disc channel. No clue at all.

UPDATE: A big clue, it works now (both Wii Sports Resort and Virtua Tennis). Ran the game via Gecko OS, and it asked to install IOS55-64-v4633.wad. After restart, works via the disc channel as well.
