The guide is completely up to date as well

X1pheR: be sure to install the newest HBC (and bootmii if possible), then start the guide from the begining (including the update). You can then skip the installation of HBC and bootmii in the Modify part

is it up to date? hasn't the TBR restorer steps been updated to use dop-ios mod v10.1... anyways, it is conflicting with the complete softmod guide... it doesn't really matter, as both methods probably work... and the veterans i'm sure still remember how to use the original TBR

Are you referring to this guide: [Guide] Fully Softmod Any Wii (everything you need), HBC + BootMii + NAND + New cIOS + PreLoader + Backup?

That one mentions (I think the very first thing) that it's up to date as of October 1, 2009. I'm wondering if this guide is newer or older than that one. I've only ever used mod chips for console hacking, and this all seems like it could be messed up if I have the incorrect set of information. I'd like to be reasonably sure that this information is correct. I also saw that this one was edited on Jan 1, 2010, while that one wasn't touched since October. My concern is that if I modify the wii I have with old techniques, I may end up with a useless console. Is there another more universally accepted technique that will work with a fully updated wii?

Thanks in advance, sorry for my ignorance.

this is the most up to date guide

Ooops, I did a booboo...

I needed to Update my Wii to 4.2 first but because the titles are the same in the guide "Installing The Homebrew Channel & Bootmii", I missread where I was and installed Homebrew Channel and made a NAND back up on 4.1...

How should I go about restarting the process?

Just got to the bit where you need to choose IOS36 but I only have the options IOS: 60 and "Install an IOS that accepts fakesigning". I did the fake signing one first but shall I click the IOS: 60 now to do the stub removal process even though it's not the guidelined IOS36 or leave it and go to next step?

scroll left to ios36 and press A

Ahhh okay.

Maybe that should go in the guide! Lol. Cheers for this dude.

Next question: What does this mean and what am I doing? Which settings?

"Enable desired hacks & go into the settings & make to use the system menu IOS."

This is after Ive installed Priiloader.

its self-explanatory once u do the step before it

load priiloader by holding reset during boot cycle (after having installed it of course), then go to system menu hacks and "Enable desired hacks & go into the settings & make (SURE IT IS SET) to use the system menu IOS."

I have installed Priiloader and then it goes back to the homebrew channel where is has priiloader, WAD Manager etc, so now I hold the reset button on the console while I click on priiloader?? And then I should get to the system menu hacks??

wow, ok, i'm trying not to get frustrated

turn the wii off, then power it on, and while it is powering on (ie. during the boot cycle) hold reset.

If u can't figure this out (which is sad), download the priiloader bundle from my signature and install the priiloader channel which will allow u to launch priiloader without having to hold reset as the wii is powering on

Shit, Sorry, I got it now Lol.

So which hacks should I enable?

would u like me to hold your hand too?

hacks are self explanatory, pick and choose how u want ur wii to be

In the guide it says...

Enable System Menu Hacks
[optional; recommended if Bootmii is only installed as an IOS.]
Run Priiloader to install preloader onto your system.
Enable desired hacks & go into the settings & make to use the system menu IOS.

I have only installed mine as an IOS so I was expecting there to be some hack which I should be enabling to do with it only being installed as an IOS right?

what the guide is saying is, if u could only install bootmii as IOS, then it is recommended u install priiloader so that u can have at least some form of brick protection
Okay so now it's installed I need to do nothing with it? Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Just loaded System Menu and now it says Wii System Update where the game usually is loaded. Is this right?

EDIT AGAIN: Just blocked disc updates, guessing that would have blocked my Wii if I tried updating? I dont know...
