I'm thinking about modding my Nintendo Switch. its the OG model and one of the early release. Not sure what Firmware its running (Havent checked YET) but lets just assume that it is mod-able.

I've been away from the scene for a while so i need a few pointers. So what are my options regarding custom Firmware? Are there any chips available or is it all soft mods? My goal is to be able to play Emulators and Switch Backups.

Also what are the online ban risks? I know these things always carry the risk but i would like to know a rough % of people who have been banned.

If you have any Links to certain tutorials to get me started that would be ace but any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

save or dont save.. i understand all people dont have much money, but give it a try

Its not that i dont have the money its just that buying a second switch is at the bottom of my priority list lol. Just started a family so nappies and baby milk are at the top at the moment.

If i get banned i get banned i aint gonna cry about it ;)

You can get dongles or modchips or if the switch is on 4.1.0 and below, you can use normal non-rcm warmboot.
Ban risks - online with cfw = ban. So you want to have a dns or just stay offline.

I have a slight problem...

I got atmosphere working by following this tutorialhttps://switch.homebrew.guide/

I then tried to install tinfoil but i couldnt get it to download because my 90dns settings were interfering with the connection. I was advised on the hba discord to use IncognitoRCA instead of the 90DNS. So this is where things got a little problematic.

I couldnt use IncognitoRCA with my Emunand because it couldnt find the config file. I then wondered if this was because of the way https://switch.homebrew.guide/ sets up the emunand.

I then reformatted my SD thinking i could just recreate the emunand via this tutorial https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide.

Now I'm left with a switch that wont boot into CFW Emunand. It shows the 3 splash screens for atmosphere but wont actually boot into the firmware. I just get a black screen and have to hold the power button for 10 seconds to power off. The switch will still boot into stock firmware.

Any ideas on how i can get my switch back up and running with CFW?
