Is it possible to hardmod the SD card reader on the N3DS to be at a more convenient location? I hate opening my 3DS every time I want to install some new mods or such.

I've seen it done. I'd think it would involve disconnecting the original SD reader, then wiring up the pins to a different reader somewhere else on the board with a cutout so you can access it.

Yeah, I've tried that before, but the 3DS never showed up on my PC's network list
strange hmmm I use it well just have some problem with huge files... and like 1gb file take like half hour :v

Actually I have an idea of "mod" that would hurt less the console than hard and case modding it ... I can try to illustrate later but I can't try myself yet

well not illustrated yet but let me tell the ideia I had lol:

you will need:
-1 dead micro SD and its micro-> SD adapter
-some wires , solder and skill for that
- one of these nice hard cases

what to do :
get this dead micro SD , you just need it's shape and the contacts...
solder the wires on the corresponding contacts letting out a good length , how exactly to do this I don't know yet since I don't tried :v
make a hole on the case and put the SD adapter there in a way you can get or remove easily the micro SD
assemble everything lol
This way you don't hurt the console ... yeah

simpler idea: remove the screws of the back part and just let it attached, I don't think it gonna get out so easily , but need more care, of course

was like my ideas but an acutall product, not DIY XDD I never though it already existed lol

Your post reminded me that I had seen it somewhere before.

yoooo, that is dope! I'll buy that.

I can't vouch for the integrity of it, I did a quick amazon search and copied the link for one.
Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

That item is a micro SD to regular sd adapter as well as an extension. If you're planning on putting that inside your 3ds, good luck, and because there is not a whole lot of room inside the 3ds for something of that size.

Better option is to do what I do and remove the screws from the 3ds back cover. It snaps on anyway.

The item isn't meant to reside fully inside the the 3ds. It lets you route an sd slot to outside of your 3ds without cutting into the backplate. The picture I saw, the guy used double sided tape to mount it to the outside of the bottom plate.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
