I was wondering if it was possible to enable the ablity to download files using the stock browser. Like allow it to download zip files straight from the web browser.

It could work for the convenience of unzipping roms without using a computer all the time.
Though, it requires a lot of rework and I'm not sure if some devs are willing to do it.
Perhaps some sort of new browser needs to be made.
Again, don't expect it to happen.

You can only download specific file types via the 3DS stock browser (eg: image files supported by the camera app). VERY highly doubt it's even possible to modify it to such a degree that you can download files normally, as it's stored in the SysNAND like all stock apps and it has to be under a certain size (as in file size because there's a limit), so too much modifying will make it unusable. Also, modifying files inside the SysNAND always carries a risk of brick, however small. Best chance is a homebrew browser (sort of like the ones that were on the PSP that removed any system limitations from the stock browser), as that's possible to pull off. As for downloading though at this point in time, if you know the exact download link or have a QR code that starts the download, then you can just use MultiDownload to download the file.
