1) So is it possible to have a mobile phone that can watch TV on the road?

2) When would that be affordable (under 300 euros?)

3) Would that service be free or ridiculously expensive?

1) They already have mobiles with TV in Japan and that general area, so yes.

2) Maybe a few years time

3) It might depend on how it works. Maybe free if it picked up free satellite signals (i.e. Freeview)

Okay, thanks so much for the fast replies.

Glad to hear it's possible, hopefully it becomes possible here soon.
I don't want a laptop, a mobile phone is so much smaller.

OMG.. You haven't seen one of those phones before?

There are tons of those phones and they are only about 200USD.
These phone have antennas to watch TV.
You don't need to be in Japan to have these kinds of things.
China have all and more of these.

I live in Malaysia.
And there's a market for china phone mainly because they are dirt cheap, have tons of features BUT I hate their GUI, very not-user-friendly. But for some that just want to use the functions and don't care about the GUI, its good.

Asian countries are way ahead of Europe and USA on the technology side, get used to it.
We are ahead of them on other sides then, that's just how the world rolls.

Well I don't know about Belgium, but in Germany there are some phones which aren't expensive (I've seen a LG one for about 70 €), which can do DVB-T (digital antenna TV).
Maybe Belgium has DVB-T as well or otherwise some analog antenna stuff

My phone can stream TV from the internet (for a price) but its not that good at all.

Belgium has very crappy internet, to stream it of the internet, that would be a really bad option for me. + It's not free, I would like to have it free.

Cool, I'll ask my brother if he knows more. Is that free Digital TV?

I know, I do it sometimes on my PC, but as said above, streaming isn't really an option with this crappy internet.

In the Netherlands we had a hype a couple of years back, where a very big phone company introduced tv on mobile phones. I remember it didn't take off that well, but there is still an option for it. Also, you can get a subscription with free internet from most networkproviders.

Hopefully it gets here sometime then, but I doubt it. It's gonna take at least a few years before it's introduced in Belgium....
Belgium is just a ridiculous country on the technology side, really, just a fucking joke.

The only reason I can think of for not having them already, is that phone companies don't want to make them. I have seen USB digital tv tuners that are incredibly small, there is also no reason not to have them for current handheld games consoles either.
