tried some stuff with my mig. the free no mans sky upgrade works with the mig and that's cool to see. the breath of the wild upgrade does not, wants to connect to the internet to update. tried to locally match the update with my switch 1, and it doesn't work.

If its a back up of your own cart, then go online and update

for any other scenario, youre getting banned and for what... not even being able to play botw lol

Just tested BOTW. I already had the update after installing the regular cart but no issues. All Switch 1 games are working.

Knowing that this would be a very-likely ban, my biggest concern is getting locked out of updates on a banned Switch 2.
Does anybody know if it's possible to use the local user update sharing function to update a Switch game on a banned/offline-only Switch 2, using a banned/offline-only Switch 1?

It works fine.

the tears of the kingdom upgrade works just like no mans sky did. pretty sweet.
this is all using xci's from the torrent just fyi. the botw file is 1.6 so it needs an update to 1.8 to work
Is this with a seperate clean cert file or the one included from your downloaded xci?

If you dump your own roms and don't pirate anything I don't think you have much to fear in terms of going online, getting updates.....at least that's what I hope

I'm using the ones included.

After the upgrades installed from the eshop, and before i put the mig in, I deleted the internet settings. Then after i tested, i cleared the sd card and reset to factory settings while still offline. Not immediately banned and i'm downloading them all again now. i'll check again in a week or so.

I don't understand why people get so up in arms about being banned. Oh no, I can't purchase over-priced digital only Nintendo slop, whatever will I do! And who even plays online? Playing with other people sucks.

You mean the "not quite as good as emulated BOTW from 2020" version? Big fat meh.

You can update off cartridges

It's obviously worth it to just buy two consoles if you really want to play Online... there were a handful of times I wished I had a switch that wasn't banned, I would have liked to play like FZero99 / Pacman99 and Splatoon when it was in its prime... But really, Nintendo is pretty lacking when it comes to online play beyond Smash bros.

The Gamecube games having Online multiplayer has potential, obviously with Melee, but also something like Custom Robo.
