they would need to dump the update data from the switch 2 and probably upload to the cart to make it working
No update is needed for the cartridge itself to boot Switch 1 carts, afaik. Mind you, my only source is Mario Party Jamboree on my NS2. The current hypothesis (someone correct me) is that read speed and/or an undiscovered NS1 Cartridge is preventing the game from starting.

just to be clear this MIG is only for backing up your physical games, it is not compatible with xci or nsp files?

Unmodified XCI files work as long as you have matching initial data BIN file. NSPs aren't supported.
However, using anything other than backups you made from the games you physically own poses a high ban risk for your console so be advised.

It's not as tragic. I've already swapped certs with SXOS and played online, and the Switch is still not banned to this day. I only have one banned game cert, and the only problem was, i swapped a v1 cert into a v2 cert. it worked online but the cert was banned 12 h later, I created all of these experiments with my own cards. And if I swap a v3 for a v3, or a v1 for a v1, I don't think they'll notice. At least, that's how it was back then. I don't know how it looks today. I definitely don't recommend it.

Hmm is the ban caused by connecting to wifi? Im always on airplane mode anyway.

Short answer: Kinda.
Long answer: Your console logs plenty of things and once it gets back to Nintendo you might get banned if you did something you shouldn't be able to if you use the console the official way. There are a few ways to get banned for using MIG Switch - incomplete/mixed/public dumps, playing the same game with the same keys at the same time as another player, etc. I made a post here about pros and cons about using the MIG Switch. That should give you an idea on whether you should find MIG Switch useful or not.

If you've used your MIG Switch incorrectly (i.e. running incomplete/mixed/public dumps) your activity is already logged and the next time you connect to the Nintendo servers your console will be flagged for ban at best. Staying offline is pretty much delaying the inevitable in that case.

From what i remember even if you do a factory reset on a Switch that used the MIG, some info would still be saved and cant be deleted without a modded console, is that correct?

In short, if i have a Switch offline at all times, use the MIG with ilegal dumps, then factory reset and connect to the intenet, i would get banned?

Yep, factory reset doesn't really clean the console as the logs are still present on the console even after the factory reset. Even if your console is modded and you've cleaned the logs, the mismatch between the logs in your console and those that were previously shared with the Nintendo will most likely get your console banned.

At the very least, flagged for a ban. The ban might come after some time (days, weeks, even months) but will eventually come. Or at least, it should.
Before I bought my MIG Switch from AliExpress, I've stumbled upon a guy that was selling his console with the MIG Switch claiming that his console still works and can connect to the eShop and everything even after a few months since he run the factory reset. Not sure where he got the game dumps for his MIG Switch microSD card but hopefully it was not from a publicly available MIG Switch game collections.

I want to get a migswitch for my Switch 2. I see that Switch 1 games will work very soon, but I'm wondering if Switch 2 games will eventually work with an update or do I have to wait for a hardware revision of the mig switch?

We don't know, you have to wait. If you don't have a MIG yet, just wait and see what will happen

R.e that video, the user starts up the Zelda game that already appears before inserting the cartridge and not the one that appeared when he pressed the cartridge.

Looks fishy to me but correct.

Seems like the first game on the Mig Switch. If you look top left all the time, you will see it appear once inserted. There is always one 'active' title as far as I can tell with the Mig Switch.

It looks like they were trying to showcase the green flashing light indicating its being read, the game switching functionality as well as the game launching and have it all done in one frame to solidify its not faked. Only time will tell if its legit, but since this info is coming direct from the MIG team it may have some credibility.

If indeed true, I am curious if the Switch 2 specific patches work with the games seeing as they bypassed the update to launch the game; in theory it should behave like any other update but that info is above my pay-grade.

Ah thanks for the tip.
Put piracy aside.
I'm interested in homebrew, if I understand well, an XCI is supposed to come with some sort of keys (I guess), so that it's legit to Big N eyes ?
Thus, I can imagin there will never be any solution to work with homebrews (especially Retroarch and Mame) and the Mig Switch unless there's a way to "sign" or validate the homebrew, is that right ?
