It's EXTREMELY unlikely that the MIG actually has an EXPRESS SD controller inside the unit. It's most likely a USB 2 based controller, I would be a little surprised if it's even USB 3 based. So it won't matter regardless of what is in it.
microSD express... I don't thinks so, but USB 2 ? that would mean 40MB/s max., is it that slow now ? I hope it is using direct UHS-I based eMMC access, so to say. If that's the case there's some room for possibly reaching 180-190MB/s speeds...

I made the video as a courtesy. I don't feel like filming another. You'll have to take my world that I was on 20.1.1.

The point is, my switch didn't get immediately banned like some people thought.

Guys, please stop being dumb about voltages, express card vs microSD etc.

Switch's ASIC (Lotus 3 chip inside them for handling cartridge comms are updateable).

https://switchbrew.org/wiki/Lotus3

I believe that Nintendo have identified the spoofed Lotus3 checks and thus have "blocked" them on SW2, in order to weed the "mig-flash" out and render it useless, they no longer accept the cartridges with the old Lotus3 code.

I believe they are forcing an update to our SW1 Game Lotus 3 chips upon insert into the SW2....

When you insert a SW1 - do you at all notice how it updates and how fast it is?

Just saying.

Switch cartridges are UPDATEABLE. (The Lotus 3 chip inside them).
This is not true. Switch cartridges are NOT updatable. The Lotus3 ARM that's updatable is within the console and connected to the CPU. Switch cartridges are blocks of encrypted data and can not be changed or written to. That's also why save data is exclusively stored on the console's internal system memory (and not on the cartridge itself).

Can someone attempt to solder a switch1 cartridge reader on the switch2.

I have a feeling older switch1 cartridges will work and switch2 cartridges will be undetectable due to a new security key like the ixtreme/mtkflash days of the xbox360.

The new switch2 has the cartridge reader soldered to the actual mainboard.

It's pretty unlikely the old reader would work at all

Cartridges are roms, so no. They aren't upgradable at all. The Lotus3 is part of the cartridge READER (a tiny chip), not the cartridge itself.
(Probably this black chip where lines goes to, I actually got no idea.)

Why games say "Hey I have an update you need to install" is because the game cartridges includes the firmware for it.
A lot of info came from the gigaleaks that happened about the Lotus3 as well. Hell the Cartridges reader itself seem to be a very simple computer itself since it have a Coretex-M3 in it.

MiG Switch disappears into big ditch. Will be years if at all that an exploit is found that allows piracy. Also Hackerone and $20k, if you find something, genuinely go after that bounty vs a Nintendo Ninja showing up at your house.

Like I say - typo....

Personally I don't think it will be long before MIG provides an update that works with it.

Why?

The Switch 2 recognises that it is a switch game...

There is probably some other validity check that will soon be fixed with a new firmware.

I tend to agree and be hopeful. From the clips I've seen, when launching a title, the screen goes black for an extended amount of time before returning an error. It's definitely a novel verification compared to what the Switch1 is doing, and hopefully they can figure out what it is and bypass it and provide firmware for current migflashes out there

Probably. I was just responding to a false claim posted in this thread saying that someone had attempted to use a mSD Express card with the MIG.

In any case, I think the speculation about the Switch 2 refusing to load a game from a cartridge based on some type of read speed benchmark is still valid.

Maybe Nintendo found a way to weed out the spoofed challenge responses, but that seems highly unlikely considering how it works 100% on Switch 1 and the game cartridges that the MIG is spoofing are supposed to work on Switch 2 as well. In other words, if they are able to spoof it due to a key leak, they can't ban the key, because old, legitimate Switch 1 cartridges in the wild are using that key and the Switch 2 is expected to support them. Maybe it's a matter of timing with the challenges as well and not raw read speed.
