Gaming Microphone problem

hi guys.
It seems like I'm having a problem again.
Everytime I record with my voice, there seems to be a problem.
But I really need help with the setting of the mic in the control panel in vista.

• control panel
• hardware and sound
• sound
• recording
• microphone
• levels.

Everytime i move the slider IT KEEPS CRASHING ON ME!!
it somewhat says a problem with a windows shell common dll but please help me
I need the mic

Nevermind. I just rebooted and it's fixed.
