What I generally mean by nonsense is for example, there's no such thing as a female space bounty hunter that can roll into a ball like a sandshrew  but ultimately meh, who cares? It's a video game. Rocket scienze rulez! ;)
Well the scans say that the "ball" is a meter in diameter, so it's not really impossible.

However, in MP2 there is a scan that says when the Space Pirates try reverse-engineering her suit and duplicating the affect, they just end up just breaking the spines of several test subjects. :rofl2:

That's one of my favorite scans in the trilogy. I rarely laugh when playing Metroid Prime (since I'm always sucked into the experience), but I always chuckle when I read that particular scan. XD

Does Other M have any extras besides the campaign? Bots, mini games, hard core difficulty etc.? Also, any collectibles like the scans in Prime?

No bots or mini games. I THINK there might be an unlockable hard mode, but I don't really remember.

And the only collectibles are the expansions like in classic Metroid games (missiles, energy tanks, and the addition of new ones like charge accelerations and focus boosts).

Also if you're concerned about the amount of content period, do be warned the game is rather short. My first playthrough took about 8 or 9 hours (compare that to the prime trilogy, each installment of which took me between 16 and 20 hours to beat). And the opportunity to collect expansions before the very end of the game when you unlock the final weapon authorization is VERY limited (I only got 35% completion on my first playthrough, barely half the amount of any other Metroid game in my first playthrough).

You get expansions, but there are no scans or anything. You don't even get a bonus for collecting all expansions. The only thing is a hard mode (play the game with no missile/health expansions, so you get 1-hit killed) and an extra boss if you go back after completing the game.
