You're getting confused. There's a ws_mom_ntsc_m3, and there's mom-wiitard. The Wiitard version is a bad dump, no matter what you do, it will freeze.

You are correct. the video from ws_mom_ntsc_m3_proper_wiitard.iso stopped at the close up of Samus. But the video from ws_mom_ntsc_m3 kept going.

It must be the Wii that needs updating.

The Wiitard release is bad, not your Wii.

The copy I've been trying to play recently is this one:
Metroid Other M [Proper][NTSC][Multi5][Spanish][www.consolasatope.com] this was a straight ISO.

This one is 4.37GB and believe it has been scrubbed because at the freeze point It displays a disc read error if on IOS249. when on 222 or 223 it freezes. But I haven't tested yet with my updated cIOS v20 yet. Am currently testing.

I'm currently downloading this copy:
[Wii]Metroid_Other_M[NTSC][MULTi3][WiiSOS.com] with these file names ws_mom_ntsc_m3

This one is 7.45GB and when I first downloaded this copy it always only froze on any IOS no disc read error. I will see what happens soon.

Quick update, Wii system 4.2u, cIOSv20, HBC v1.0.8 IOS61 v21.29, WiiFlow 2.1 Tried to play on IOS249 and it froze
IOS222 also froze
IOS223 becomes non responsive to the Wiimote on the main menu
IOS224 also becomes non responsive to the Wiimote on the main menu
IOS250 won't load

BTW, all these tests were with the Metroid Other M [Proper][NTSC][Multi5][Spanish][www.consolasatope.com] 4.37GB Straight ISO file not in a rar file

Any ISO with a size of 4.38 GB is generally bad.

YAY!!!!

I finally got Metroid Other M to work. All it took was a new download of a GOOD file. Once I installed it I opened WiiFlow 2.1 and I knew I was in a good standing when I selected Metroid Other M and the Disc music played, (It didn't before) I changed the settings back to IOS249 and hit play. Watched tv through the tutorial, since I've played through it more than 15 times, I actually memorized the entire tutorial, then tuned back in at Babies Cry and waited. I actually didn't notice at first or it didn't hit me when it passed the freeze point, but finally I saw the real Title screen.

Thanks to everyone here that helped me and pointed me in the right direction to get my cIOS updated and everything caught up. I'm still on 4.2u but v20 cIOS now. I actually tried to install Priiloader but I couldn't get it to find the hacks.ini? Oh well don't need it now.

Hey I got mine to work. I have a good ISO and used wiiscrubber to remove update partition. now its working.

If you want to check if your copy of Metroid is ok, using WiiScrubber extract the movie "dm03to04.sfd" (this is the baby's cry cutscene )and play it using VLC and if the movie freezes and doesnt play until the end then the copy you have is more than likely bad.

This is the problem. dm03to04.sfd ends right at the cutscene where the game freezes. The file is corrupt.

Can someone please upload a working version of dm03to04.sfd so that I can replace it using WiiScrubber?
