If you want to check if your copy of Metroid is ok, using WiiScrubber extract the movie "dm03to04.sfd" (this is the baby's cry cutscene )and play it using VLC and if the movie freezes and doesnt play until the end then the copy you have is more than likely bad.

This is the problem. dm03to04.sfd ends right at the cutscene where the game freezes. The file is corrupt.

Can someone please upload a working version of dm03to04.sfd so that I can replace it using WiiScrubber?

Can you let me know what the CRC32 is of your dm03to04.sfd file is? You can Use CheckCRC from the link below to check it.

Theses are re results I've got from the different releases...

I finally got Metroid Other M to work. All it took was a new download of a GOOD file. Once I installed it I opened WiiFlow 2.1 and I knew I was in a good standing when I selected Metroid Other M and the Disc music played, (It didn't before) I changed the settings back to IOS249 and hit play. Watched tv through the tutorial, since I've played through it more than 15 times, I actually memorized the entire tutorial, then tuned back in at Babies Cry and waited. I actually didn't notice at first or it didn't hit me when it passed the freeze point, but finally I saw the real Title screen.

Thanks to everyone here that helped me and pointed me in the right direction to get my cIOS updated and everything caught up. I'm still on 4.2u but v20 cIOS now. I actually tried to install Priiloader but I couldn't get it to find the hacks.ini? Oh well don't need it now.

you have to put the hacks.ini at the root of your SD card. This hacks.ini contain hack for 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 for any region
SD:/hacks.ini

I'm also having the same problem, except it's with a genuine copy of the game so i doubt the same solution will work for me. I loaded the game with Neogamma, and it freezes right after samus says she altered her flight path for the baby cry. I'm using cIOS rev 14, but changing it to rev 20 didn't seem to fix the problem for naydog. Can anyone help me out?

I got it to work by changing to IOS 236 from xflak's ModMii application...I also installed his recommended wads & extra brick protection. It works through NeoGamma, but something weird happened; The Wii says an update is required to play games that were working perfectly fine before. The ones I noticed so far are Wii Fit Plus (burned) and SSBB (genuine copy). Wii Fit plus runs perfectly fine through wii fit plus channel and neogamma. But for Warioware smooth moves, it does not say it requires an update.

I'm not sure if this happened after I played metroid or after I changed to IOS236.

I noticed that it really depends on the dump. I tried 3 different dumps: an early dump, Wiitard proper, and another later release. Two of them would freeze at the exact same point in the cutscene where Samus is walking through a Galactic Federation building (academy? base?), right before it switches to outside the building. (This cutscene is the one right after you defeat the first, easy boss.) The other release wouldn't even run.

I noticed that the sound for the Disc Channel does not play in Wiiflow for the broken releases. Good way to tell, I guess.

I found two releases, however, that work. Reidy release (TLS games), available via torrent. (this is the one I normally use, since it was the first I had that worked.)
The second release was by TheWiiKing at [the]paradox.

He actually explained why a good dump of Metroid: Other M does not work properly.

My guess is that the first 2 dumps I had that would work until that cutscene would have been fine if I had removed the Update partition and scrubbed the ISO, then ran the game under cIOS Rev20b with IOS56 base wad. I'm not sure yet, even if that is all that it takes.

One things for sure, make sure you have a working dump.

I did and it never found it.

I bought the game today and it freezes after the tutorial, too. That means, it depends on the Wii. Any ideas what I could do?

Hi, i'm having the same issue, the game freezes in the second cutscene while the ship it's arriving to the planet, i can't progress any further. And since it's before the save point i have to rewatch the entire cutscene all over again. I have system menu 4.3
