Hacking Metal Gear Solid 3DS on Gateway 2.2

Hi all! I love my Gateway and have been able to play every game I've tested on it with one notable exception: Metal Gear Solid! I've tried different regions and even trimming the rom to no avail.

Anybody have the same issues? I'm running firmware 4.5. Should I try emunand?

You probably have a bad dump - MGS3D is an early 3DS game, it should boot just fine even on the standard Gateway setup.

Hmm, I've tried 2 different dumps, one USA and one Eur, I'll try others. thanks

any other folks have this problem? anyone else willing to test?

Posting the checksums (CRC, SHA1, MD5) of your dumps would be nice, it would allow other users to verify whether they're using the same dump you are.

I played a USA dump on my Gateway 2.2 with EmuNAND 7.1, no problems at all.
But the game is a bad port and I don't have the Circle Pad Pro, played until the first swamp area and turned off.

The game doesn't even load for you?

It works fine for me. I do have the circle pad pro. For the games it supports it was worth the 20 bucks

I'm not sure if 3DSExplorer shows checksums of the file. If you're using Windows, all you need to check SHA1 and MD5 is the File Checksum Integrity Verifier utility, it can be found here. If you're a Linux user, md5sum should work fine.

Yeah I've been nosing around for one for my XL. I think with a GW it's hardware that pays for itself.

Yea. Unfortunately there arent that many games that can use it. I just hope monster hunter 4 can. I dont know anything about mh4 l. I try to keep away from most games im sure will get a us release. If they dont then i take a look

I know 3 ultimate supported it. I cant wait for the MH4 US release.

Don't waste your time with MGS 3D. It's unplayable.

Maybe your micro sd It's almost full and cause fragmentation, try in one with more space free.

I just figured it out. It was some sort of formatting issue: I originally formatted it as exFAT on mac os x, i think that was the problem. I reformatted it on my PC, using default device settings, exFAT. All roms are good now!

just out of curiosity have you done a h2testw check on the card to make sure its genuine?

And yes, I've actually had games not show up in gateway mode when it was badly fragmented

It still does, just has faster seek times so it isn't as noticeable.

superphamicom, i beat it yesterday from beginning to end on gateway 2.2, no single issue. Game is trimmed.
