Hacking MENU? ERROR ON R4I V1.4 UPGRADE NINTENDO DS LITE?

Hi,

I am receiving the following error on my nintendo ds lite when trying to use my r4i v1.4 card. I have downloaded the correct firmware but shows me a white screen with "MENU?"

This happens when you copy the wrong firmware/kernel to the microSD!
Or the microSD doesn't make good contact in the flashcart.
Does your r4 icon appear in the DS home menu? If it doesn't show up, your r4 is defective.

@Nikokaro Hi, it shows a white screen with the error message "Menu?" In red text when I click on the cart. Do you know if theres anything else I can try as the software should be correct?

That is the typical error message. Tell me the full, accurate name of your r4 and the website linked to it.

I also asked you if the icon (image of a DS game) associated with your r4 appears in the DS menu.

@Nikokaro A game shows up on the ds home screen (starwars or something, when I click on that I get the menu error shown below. The website listed is https://www.r4i-sdhc.com/

Try the alternative software, almost universally compatible, YSMENU. Your r4 is explicitly named, so it should work:

Copy the files in this folder to the root of your microSD:

Extract the files from the DSONEi SDHC YSMenu folder and copy to root of your µSD :

TTMenu folder
R4.dat

Very strange.
What size is your microSD?
Did you format it fat32 with 32kb cluster?

@Nikokaro Yes, it is 2GB, just to check where should the R4.dat file be sourced from as this is not in the retrogame download folder, I have it in the original R4 download

Obviously the r4.dat you already had is no good; that explains why YSMenu didn't work.

When using the r4.dat you linked, it goes back to the menu error again, when I use the r4.dat file in R4 V1.85B I get as far as the loading screen. @Nikokaro

Fixed it! I added all the files you advised but also the default files downloaded for the card that wer not working before and somehow it works now thanks

Could you give a more detailed description of how you managed to fix it? I have the same card but no version / kernal / firmware of YSmenu works on it! Thanks
