Hacking Mencoder Error Message on batchDPG

OMG I NOTICED SOMETHING!!!!
ok so i just came home from my friends house because I wanted to leave some anime converting over night(claymore if anyone is interested to know) and after I added all of the files i wanted to convert i hit RUN. and as i was about to leave i noticed that on the bottom right hand corner next to the clock icons there were TWO icons of ffdshow. One of them was a blue audio converter icon which is the same one that appears on my computer, and the second one was a green VIDEO converter ffdshow icon. which DOESN"T appear in mine.

So im thinking that maybe me ffdshow is not workining or there is just something wrong with it. I am going to try installing different versions of ffdshow to see what happens.

Is there any other program that i might be able to use instead of ffdshow just incase my computer hates it and wont run it?

GameDragon do you notice this too when you are trying to convert a file? I'll post something if i find out.

You wouldn't happen to be running Vista, would you?

On a x64 Vista computer I was troubleshooting there was a similar error message every time a directory with videos was opened...the thumbnail view option was chosen so it was grabbing a frame of the video to display. I uninstalled ffdshow and it fixed the problem. I didn't get into any other fixing at the time and just yet up video playing to use VLC, which has it's own codecs.

I've never had issues with ffdshow myself, but I've never used it with vista. Only thing I can think of is a conflict of some sort with the codecs, or maybe just a Vista incapability and you might want to try a different version, just in case.

Its not working Ive installed a couple of different versions of ffdshow and nothing the freaken video icon is not appearing.

I have also tryed uninstalling the ffdshow and running it like that and nothing it still gives me the same mencoder.exe error
And i am running windows xp

I dont know what else to try, any suggestions?

Ask your friend where he got his ffdshow from and use the same installer. Or maybe it's your computer. How old is your computer and how old is your mates computer. Some specs would b good too.

I got it working!!!! well kinda.
I was looking for things in my external HD to install in my pc since i had just formatted and i noticed the i didnt have the SP2 installed i and i dont remeber having it installed the last time. So i installed it and reinstalled the ffdshow but i started clicking for it to install more features(dont remeber what exactly) and then i ran the batchdpg thing and the two video and audio icons appeared in my left bottom corner and it converted the avi.

Ok, now i cant convert any other type of file except for avi, and if i recall correctly i could convert mpg. mpeg. and a couple of others.
Oh and the same problem appears for any other type of file that i try converting that is not avi. the Mencoder.exe error thing.

What can i be missing?
Also i might be asking for to much since its barely working in my pc but is it possible to convert mkv. files?

@NecrozShaman, Good thing that you found the solution to your problem. I recommend you to try the DPGenc that is included on Moonshell 2.0 as I find it to produce better videos with better quality and it encodes to DPG4 (moonshell 2.0 version)
