Mega is definitely going to be a game-changer for cloud storage services. While the massive storage limits might not affect anything, the fact that their encrypting files on the client-side is definitely going to be interesting. I can see other cloud storage services adopting a similar feature as it makes perfect sense when it comes to ensuring that your data is private.

Of course, the other reason cloud storage services will adopt the encryption strategy is so they no longer can be liable for knowingly storing copyrighted content, which is also great for the users. It means we shouldn't have another Megaupload situation again where clients lose all of their data unfairly.

It's not about telling users to use a browser they "love". It's about telling users to stop using outdated browsers that don't support particular features, and that if they want the best experience, use Chrome because Chrome is the only browser that provides the required functionality. They can't use features that simply don't exist in other browsers.

The site will just gracefully degrade itself should your browser not have a particular feature, which as a person who works on web projects everyday, I absolutely support. Providing support for older browsers only encourages people to stick to their current browser, and ends up costing us web developers more money.

There's tons of other great file sharing sites out there, so while I'm happy for them, it doesn't mean much to me. Unless all the files are still on there, which means the old "megaupload links" for android ROMs, tribute albums, and whatnot will work again. Then I care.
