Mcafee problem

just activated a month subscription with Mcafee everything was cool in tell i had to restart my computer for updates then now every time the Mcafee window pops up saying my computers is at risk when i click on the turn on button it turn on then turns of 5 second later an wont stay on an i download that virtual technician app for Mcafee but it cant find my product id or something like that anybody know how to fix this.

Are ya serious well im not all knowing about anti spyware programs any suggestions i have windows defender(If that counts)

AVAST or MSE would be much better. I wouldn't just rely on Windows Defender.

Many anti virus companies have free versions for home users (if you use it as part of a business less so although do check)

There are quite a few other AV programs although Avast and MSE are pretty good (a few clients use avast although for the sake of my not having to learn another AV program I tend not to use it but I have no justification for pressuring them out of it, other clients I point towards MSE). We had a nice thread around here the other day about anti virus programs too.

I will echo the mcafee is terrible crowd (bad detection rates, high system requirements, heuristics are terrible and it goes on although those three alone are more than enough reason to ditch it). You might have troubles uninstalling it via the usual add/remove programs so http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 has a nice standalone tool for removing it (would be IT types Norton has one too and I keep both on my computer fixing USB drive right alongside the likes of GMER and combofix).

Thanks mcafee uninstall easily an I choice MSE seem its the best for fit for my system (windows 7) THANKS EVERONE !

One more thing do I have to uninstall windows defender before I can run the MSE install wizard cuz it said something about not having more than anti virus programs running at the same time.

Leave windows defender if you want. It is more of an spyware/malware removal tool than an antivirus although if you have a preferred method of doing such things go with that instead.

Ok imma keep it. It did help out before an remove several trojan's from time to time.
