3DS enthusiasts will know that by creating larger replicas of the system’s AR cards that it’s possible to create bigger versions of virtual characters and games. Nintendo themselves have acknowledged this and will be giving out giant cards to Club Nintendo members that will produce life-size Miis.

However, a group of fans have well and truly outdone the system’s creators by constructing their own massive card and producing a gargantuan Mii on the streets of Japan.

Oh yeah, I saw this on Kotaku. I love this! It's sad that the statue got destroyed in the big earthquake/tsunami...

already destroyed? that means this is old already?

That's really cool! Even if it's not as huge, I think I'll at least print out a card as big as one paper.

...what? Like, did you even bother looking up where Kobe was or where the earthquake hit, or did you just assume everything in Japan is gone now? There was an earthquake in Kobe, yes, in 1995, and this statue was built afterwards (1999), but this past event didn't affect Kobe in the slightest.
I know that this is probably an innocent mistake, but this is what seriously pisses me off. People aren't even bothering to look up information after they've heard it. You know what I had some guy tell me? "I heard Tokyo is gone now. Like, just gone. It was that bad." And this was five hours after the quake. Five goddamn hours.
Jesus monkey Christ, PLEASE do a little research before assuming the worst.

Whoa whoa, calm down. Sorry. Should I kneel down and kiss your feet? Or maybe I should lift you to your gigantic throne of the internet?

I made a mistake. Too bad. Take your heart attack elsewhere.

Maybe he was harsh, but his point is valid and there is no excuse for ignorance.
It would take you all of a minute to do some basic geography of Japan and find you were wrong.

I figured the same thing, I've known of that image for a long time now, and never bothered printing one. I just did, full paper sized, then cut out some of the cardboard-type-paper from my Rock Band 3 Wii Keyboard box (It's not real cardboard, it's the same stuff that pokemon cards are made from) in the exact same size. Add tape, and viola! Giant AR Card with trading card game quality construction. I do not recomend actual cardboard for this, because then it would be too thick, and it would seem like the AR Game stuff is floating in the air, instead of coming out of the ground.

Why wait? You can do that now:

You get some awesome points for posting this. I have some cardboard leftover from a costume I'm working on and I have been wanting to make a large card for launch.

Good idea. I got a sample of my printer's conpany's photo paper with my printer I never figured on using.
Looks nice, might be a tad too shiny in high light, but good.

Print it on regular paper, not the card material stuff itself. Only add tape on the edges to attach it to the cardboard cutout. That makes it not shiny at all.

It's not a proper meme if it's not from 4chan. For example, nothing from memebase is a real meme, they are forced memes. They spam them so much they become viral.
