Showing new items and courses.
Looks neat. Not terribly creative, but creativity in Mario games has been on the decline anyways - what matters is that it's charming and looks gorgeous. This should've been a launch title.
I agree, plus smash bros also would've been a good launch title.
Did you hear the rainbow road theme? It sounds sweet!
That's sort of my problem. It almost feels like they try to market this as the same game, just looking better. "Oh look, Rainbow Road! Look at the fly trap plant! Here, have a metal power up from our other game! You know these things, you like them!". It plays on heart strings and pulls the nostalgia card, although I will give them credit, they used the plant in a creative way. I almost wish that they went with the All-Stars route and included other franchises like Star Fox and Metroid, it would mix things up. Full-on aerial stages would be cool too, or underwater ones - it would change the gameplay more substantially. The last additions like this were motorcycles and custom cars, and that was on the Wii. The game looks like buckets of fun though, I just hope it won't be Nintendo's Call of Duty, meaning a minor upgrade that panders to the fans only. And yes, titles like this and Smash would've put the Wii U in the limelight at launch, I'll never understand why Nintendo entered the next gen race completely unprepared... again. Some lessons are hard to learn, I guess.
N64 Rainbow Road, eh?
I f**king CALLED IT!
My guess is that from here on in, Mario Kart games will have their Retro Cups ending with the next corresponding Retro Rainbow Road.
MK7-SNES Rainbow Road
MK8-N64 Rainbow Road
MK9-GBA Rainbow Road
MK10-GCN Rainbow Road
Want Want Want Want Want.
Agree. Should have been a launch title.
Not available for 2nd Christmas == Epic Nintendo failure (it's like they aren't trying !)
The online gameplay better be amazing.
It looks great, and the previews I've read back up that it plays great. So I'll be getting it. But at the same time, we have yet another Nintendo game that doesn't use the gamepad. While I have no doubt MK8 will be the better game, its sad Sonic Racing utilizes the gamepad far more effectively (5 player races, different views, rear view, etc vs a map). I love offscreen play and use it all the time, but really...
Looks nice but that's all.
I am so damn pumped for this!!!
It comes out right after my exams too so perfect!!!
The Pro Controller would work so well with this!
It looks like the plant item gives you a boost too. Aaand, no off-screen multiplayer, only the shit split screen. Maybe.
Hell yes! Good ol Mario Kart! I'm glad this is finally coming and in HD.
Pre-ordered this one as soon as I could - literally cannot wait, and lordy if it doesn't look better every time I see it...... roll on May 30th!
looks sweet - cannot wait!
Sounds like Diddy Kong Racing...
I'd love to see a MarioKart Allstars, with all of the previous courses from every Mario Kart game, nicely rendered of course.
I want. <3 Ugh...the waiting game is on. =p
Maybe they thought it would be a One-Hit wonder type of success? =/
Maybe Nintendo should stop basing their crucial business decisions on hope - this isn't the first time they botched a launch.
Dat gif. I love it.
If only this is on 3DS :/
Interesting that running into other players during the anti-gravity section will give a benefit rather than the usual consequence.
