Essentially I don't see this getting solved until after it's been released and the original disc has made it's hands in to more than a handful of people.

Information incase of any use;
from the old "legendary" first iso that was fake (with installed brickblocker);

Im talking about the intro code, the code that actually does the check, the code that doesn't start without the update. That could be a separate piece of code with its own signature. (just like a update partion)

Personally I see it as something is being missed when it's ripped.

The message is still display on moded wiis with original disk, there is a hardware check.

I don't think that we can get something from it, but if you can get info also from the Prominent release (the real one), we could compare them

EDIT: Thinking now, it could be a waste of time. From what we know, that Fake ISO could be another game with the gamename changed.

Other people are saying that originals work on modded wiis

Modded wii's boot the original no problem. There's been quite a few confirmations of this (both cyclowiz and wiikey)

::Edit:: Official release shows exactly the same as the above.

What i meant is that moded wii's still show the message on a original hence the backup is fine in terms of completeness.

Ok i was misguided with info about the message appearing anyway, now burst area check, we could cover the bar code on a original super Mario disc with opaque tape an see if it boots, it would error out if it checks that area.

If the originals ones are working on modded wii's... the backups should work without problem ._.
Or not?

after runing the original one...

No, because like I explained before (it was on this topic or on the release topic? dunno), modchips simply don't modify RAM when booting an original game. That's the famous "stealth" function

If the original dvd works and the copy doesn't work we have to find the differences between them. Sadly i don't have access to an original dvd. Can someone please check the booktype bitsetting from the original dvd. It's also possible that some data of the original dvd cannot be read. (often used as copy protection) If the data on the copy dvd can be read it's not an original dvd. There must be something that's different....

If you don't have the tools to compare 2 dvd's you can always send the original disc to me

I have everything what's needed to see what's the exact difference between those dvd's.

The back up triggers the message

Possible detection routes:

DVD media detection, maybe the modchips should change the book type after the initial disc login so the intro thinks its a original.

Burst area check, check via opaque tape trick on orgiinal's barcode.

..just like in xbox 360?
But some 360 isos have the stealth function...

so..its possible to do the same for wii isos?
Maybe, but don't forget that the protection system, the system, the drive and all are totally different... Also we don't really know a lot about inner workings of Wii ISOs.
